SOURCE: Laptop screen has horizontal white lines running across half the screen
Ive encountered laptop screens that are bad, with broken connections or a small carack on the very edge of the screen. I have an old laptop with the very bottom line of pixels dead. But as i push on the edge of the screen they flicker. Try carefully squeezing around the edge of your laptop screen near the lines. Its possible the screen itself is defective and need replacing.

No. You just basically need a VGA cable. Check your video settings.

Suspected it's a graphic error. Try re-installing your video driver to it's later version.

The same exact thing happened with mine less than 6 months after I got it, and the tech came out and replaced the motherboard. Before I called for support I was able to boot it up in safe mode after several attempts, but it finally crapped out. Sounds like you need a new one again. If it's not under warranty, you can just replace the part yourself with the right tools. I told the tech who came out to my house that I had purchased the 3 year warranty and he told me I did the right thing. Let me know if you need assistance.
