My keeps shutting off on me. I'll be sitting there watching a movie or playing a game, then it just randomly shuts off, no warning. Then I can't turn it back on unless I plug in my charger.
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

Hi katrina1331, From what you describe it could be a couple of things but the two the come to mind first are power and perhaps overheating. The fact that you can?t run on battery power very long would suggest it can?t hold a charge or much of one or the AC power adaptor or charging circuitry aren't working correctly. To proceed I need to get some more information from you: Are the A/C adaptor and the battery the original ones and how old is the laptop? There are several LEDs on your laptop, (we?re going to ignore the touchpad light and the wireless LED), a power/standby LED to the top left of the keyboard three just below the touchpad. The left LED is another power/standby LED, the hard drive LED in the center and the battery LED on the right. -What are they doing just before the shutdown and immediately after while running on A/C power? -What are they doing just before the shutdown and immediately after while running on battery power? Try running the laptop with the battery removed and the A/C adaptor plugged in. Do you notice any change in running time? With the battery and A/C power plugged in click on Start, Settings and then Control Panel. Find and double left click on power options. A box labeled Power Options Properties will open, click on the tab labeled Power Meter. It should indicate the battery is at 100% or that the battery is at some percentage and that it is charging and running off A/C power. Let us know what you find. When you first start up the computer run your hand along the bottom of the laptop, especially along the four screened vent areas, to roughly gauge the laptops temperature. Use the laptop in a way that causes it to turn off and then run your hand along the bottom surface again. If the laptop is hot, to the point where it is uncomfortable to touch, then overheating may be a factor. Let us know what you find out and we?ll continue.

it sounds like the video card cannot support or handle the pressure put on it by the game you are trying to play, if it is an OEM game have a look for the minium system requirements that the game will run on, you can also find this information on line, you will probably find out that the graphics card doesn't support the game, do this check with all games you try to play
another thing is to upgrade your memory because some laptops don't have a devoted graphics card thus they are relient on the system memory
good luck

1. This is main-board related. You either have a Micro controller or power supply issue that needs to be address by a tech. Shut down is direct relation to a circuit component in the start up that has failed.
