My mp player was working until recently when I added new songs, now when I turn it on it says"incorrect format, reformat the player", How do I reformat the player?

If your adding music to the device and its not playing, its because your audio files are not the correct format. This unit only plays MP3 audio or Uncopyrighted Windows Media Audio files. You can test this by connecting the MP3 player, copy one of the sampe audio files under 'My Music' location on your computer and paste it on your mp3 player. It will play the audio fine.
How to play: Hold in play button until red ligh is steady, then press Play again to start the audio.
Make sure you remove any audio file that is not the correct format.
to check format of song:
right click the song, go to properties, under properties it will say 'Type of File', make sure this says MP3, thats the safest way to go.
make sure what your putting on is MP3 or unprotected WMA files. If the light is blinking, then it means its playing the song, if you hear nothing, the audio is not in the correct format.

The Sandisk site says that your dad's device should play .wav, .mp3 and .wma files. Has the player EVER worked? I got a C250 for my wife as a Christmas present and my computer recognized but refused to communicate with it UNTIL I DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED THE FIRMWARE UPDATE. The player was a paperweight until then. It turned on and played the demo files pre-loaded on it, but I couldn't transfer a single file into it. Just a thought. hmmm i'm not familiar with the problem but try this.
First open your mp3 player and go to settings. Under the USB menu
change it to MSC. Then plug in the mp3 player to the computer. Open
the My Computer on your desktop, right click on the Sansa mp3 player
and click Format. Make sure Fat32 is checked and Quick format is
UNchecked. Then format the mp3 player. After that it should be clean
and work just like a USB drive.
