Pictures dragged from camera to MS Outlook do not open

Here's a weird problem. I just dragged some pictures directly from the camera, connected to my pc via USB, to an email in Outlook and sent the email. The person I sent them to couldn't open them, and when I tried to re-download them from the email I sent, all I got from them when I tried to open them was a 4x4 square that said "Invalid Image." If I right click on the pics I downloaded from the email, their Properties all say that they are 0 bytes. Anyone know what could have happen?

SOURCE: sd600 digital camera trouble downloading pics to computer

Hmmm... Yea sometimes the pc doesn't see the added gizmo your camera. In which case, I suggest when you connect camera to computer click on "my computer" and you should see your device listed there along with your C drive & so on. Click on the camera icon & viola, you can copy the images from there to your computer. Yea I had the same experience with PS too, well Elements in particular. And there is a setting (somewhere in Elements Browser window) to turn it off. Yea to simply download images - it doesn't require any software at all with XP. I use a card reader & rarely deal with using the camera cable to computer hook up. To use that device you'll remove the card from the camera & stick in the reader & its ALWAYS worked for me. Again you'll have to click on "my computer" to find the images there. Otherwise --- next step would be to try another usb cable.

SOURCE: I cannot upload pics from my camera to my pc.

Try updating Canon software from their website...www.powershot.com

Also:
Here are the steps to take.

1. Establish whether or not you have a connection between your camera/computer by going to your start button, control panel, system, hardware tab and device manager. The camera must be powered on and in playback mode (should automatically go to playback mode when connected, camera's screen should go black if there is a connection). Make sure you have a fully or nearly fully charged battery in your camera.

2. Once in device manager, look under Imaging Devices. If your camera is properly connected it should show up as Canon Powershot SD800. If it shows a yellow exclamation point, there is a driver issue, and even if it doesn't show a yellow exclamation point, you may want to update your driver anyway by right clicking and having the system search automatically for driver updates. If download of driver begins, great...once finished, restart camera and your problem may be resolved.

3. If there are any other imaging devices, you may have to temporarily disable them to avoid conflicts.

4. If you have any other imaging software running, exit or close the program in your system tray (down by your clock in the right hand corner of your computer's desktop.

5. Try again to connect.

6. If you are on a desktop, try a rear usb port vs. a front port. You can also try a different port on a laptop. After each change, try restarting camera to establish connection.

7. Go to start/My Computer and look for the icon for your camera...you will be able to download images even without Canon software loaded onto computer so this is not a software issue if you have no hardware connection. If you see the icon, right click on it and choose Get or Import pictures. From there the default Microsoft scanner and camera wizard should launch and you will be able to import your images.

8. If still no connection, try going to Start/Run and type in services.msc here you are looking for 4 services to be running. Check under status of each service and make sure it reads that each of these services are started.

  • Canon Camera Access Library 8 (if Canon software loaded)
  • SSDP discovery service
  • Universal Plug and Play Device Host
  • Windows Image Acquisition
Once all of these services are started on your computer, restart camera once again. If any of the last three services are not on your computer or are not started, connecting will be a problem.

If all of these steps fail, try purchasing an SD card reader from your local electronics store for around $12 and download images from there. Canon also offers lifetime technical support for your Powershot, so give them a call if none of these steps work or if you would like someone to walk you through it.

Best of luck to you!

Download cannon pictures

John
When you view the pictures you should have an option to choose or check off which photos you want to download.

Try opening your disc where the photos are from your File Manager on your computer.

Go to your lower left corner and right click your mouse on Start and open Windows Explorer.

then look at your drives of your computer on the left side of the screen
You should see C drive and search for the photos or open the folder with the photos and whichever drive you have your photo disc in.

When you click on this drive your computer may ask "would you like to view the photos with MS photo viewer or something similar.

View the photos first, they will open all at once. You should have a spot to click in and put a check mark to download ONLY those photos from the disc to the laptop.

Give that a try. Of course if it states "would you like to download all the pictures, click NO if available.

Can I have troubleshooting help for uploading my pictures using a USB?

The basic steps to uploading pictures from your camera using a USB connection are as follows:

Connect your camera to the computer using the USB cable provided.
Turn on the camera
Go to my computer
Your camera should be listed there.
Double click on it to open up your picture folders.
Select the pictures you want to transfer.
Drag them to the folder on your computer where you want to save the pictures. (The easiest way to do this is to open that folder in a separate window and then just drag the photos there.

If you need additional assistance, let me know.

I need to down load pic of my camra

Was there are cable came w. camera? Usually a mini usb cable... don't have to be the original cable as long as they are the same type of connectors. Connect the camera to pc w. cable and power up the camera.. that should start up Microsoft picture import or external storage. If it opens MS picture import follow the direction on the pop up window. If exteranl storage, open folder to view files, then select and copy paste to your pc. If all your pictures are saved on memory card, you could just pop the memory card out of camera and insert to mem. card reader in your pc or laptop and copy and paste or move them. this won't do anything or pictures save on cameras built in memory.

You should be able to drag & drop the pictures. Make sure you're NOT using a USB hub. Connect the camera or card reader directly to the computer.

Hannah Montana Camera, says there are no pictures on camera to download

Depending on your operating system the downloader program may not work.

1. Open 'My Computer' or 'Computer' on Vista and connect the camera to the PC.
2. Watch the screen for a new "Removable Disk" to appear.
3. Double click on the "Removable Disk".
4. Double click on the folder "DCIM".
5. Pictures will be located in the listed sub-folder. This should be named "100IMAGE".

You can then drag and drop or cut and paste them into the My Snapshots folder located in My Pictures.
