I cannot enable my wireless adapter

Hello,

My system is not detecting Broadcom 802.11 wireless adapter in my HP Pavillion dv7-1137US Entertainment Notebook PC series laptop. I am running windows vista ultimate and it was working great till I installed SP1. It's no where and It's not even listed as Unknown Device. I tried HP recovery manager to reinstall hardware drivers but it didn't help. I tried to add it using Add new hardware wizard but I didn't see the device in list. I did try to use the HP wireless assistant but it won't enable and again it is listed. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance.

this will sound stupid but below the blue light is a button for your wifi have you tried to click on it to verify it is turned on, first? We have to start simple since it's listed and should be running we have to make sure it's turned on also. lol

Ok, Windows messed you up, but have you updated since the SP1 install? It may find that you have hardware with no drivers and provide what you need. Also, use the service tag/serial number of your machine on the HP support site to see if there are updated drivers for Vista SP1.

Hello,

There are three hp pavillion dv5000's . So, I will include the website where you can find the files. You will need to select the type, the operating system, and then you will have all of the drivers.

I cannot enable my wireless adapter

My suggestion would be to uninstall SP1 if the wireless driver update does not work and wait until a later time to reinstall SP1 since it is apparent the problem occurred with the SP1 update. I'm surprised the HP Recovery didn't resolve it - unless it wasn't taken back to to Factory Default - which would be extreme as you would loose all data, software and updates.

My system is not detecting my broadcom network adapter 802.11 b/g WLAN

Is this a new installation or an existing adapter?

If new, make sure it's seated correctly in the pci slot.

When you plug the network cable in does the light on the adapter come on? If not, then your adapter is dead and it's going to need replaced.
