Hi - there's no such thing as 'have to' but it's really recommended that you put a safety rail up when your toddler first moves to his new bed. They are used to rolling around their cribs without any danger of falling out and it can be painful and upsetting to fall out of a new bed onto the floor. The rails are not expensive and once your kid gets used to the bed you can always take it away.

SOURCE: Where can I buy a toddler bed online?

I will post you a link to a site where you can purchase a toddler bed; however I strongly urge you to buy one in person, perhaps at a nearby department store. Simply put, it is crucial to see exactly what you are buying for your child. Walmart sells an excellent selection of toddler beds. It may be worth checking online first to find what you are looking for, calling a store location near you, and then going to see the bed in person.

SOURCE: Are there any cons to buying a toddler bed for my child?

Yes there are. We all know that children during these years grow very quickly. Most toddler beds can hold up to 50 lbs., which means that your child will eventually grow out of it. The second downfall to note is the durability. Most toddler beds are made out of plastic, so they are not the most resilient items.

SOURCE: My son is crazy about cars and it's almost time to move him from his crib to a toddler bed. Does anyone know of any good car-themed toddler beds I can buy for my son?

Absolutely! I have 3 boys of my own and I understand the importance of buying them a bed that connects with their interests. I have taken the liberty of searching some sites that should be useful.

Are toddler beds safe?

To make sure your toddler bed is completely safe you should buy a sturdy one and now and again check that the joints are tight. It shouldn't be too far from the ground to reduce the risk of injuries from climbing in. Buying a safety rail is also a good idea to stop your toddler from falling out.

Where can I buy a safety rail for my toddler's new bed?

Safety rails for toddler beds are easy to get hold of. They are sold separately to the beds or as part of a package when you get a new bed. Here's a link to the Amazon site where they have a selection of singles, doubles and even wood versions. http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Ababy%2Ck%3Atoddler%20bed%20safety%20rail

I know its been a while but if you're still looking for the toddler rail or even the full size bed rails call Lajobi (the manufacturer) at 888-266-2848 or email them at [email protected]. I bought this same crib in 2006 at Baby Depot and I ordered the toddler bed rail through them in 2009 for around $60. Now I'm ready for the full size bed rails but the crib has been discontinued. The manufactuer has a compatible bed rail in the same tea stain for $149 plus shipping.

Converting crib to toddler bed

It should have come with the toddler rail when you purchased the crib.  Simply remove a few screws and take the front of the crib off (what would be the footboard).  Then simply slide the toddler rail in the tracks.
A purchase of adult rails is required to make the conversion to a full size bed for the next step.
What color is the crib?  Call at 770-974-8895 if we can help with your toddler rail.

Jardine convertible crib instructions

Hi, I know it looks hard but It's really simple .just take out the screws that are on each side on the bottom and top 1 on the top and one on the bottom each side( 4 in total )(Sides not on the front) and that's it, the front part comes off and you save it for when you make the bed a full size bed wich that part becomes the foot board. Hope this information helps! Good luck!!
