Is it possible to print 1/2 tones with HP 5200 Printer & Windows 7?
I am using Corel 4X -- if I choose "Device Independent postscript File" --- it makes the Postscript Tab Appear & I can choose all the Options.
BUT....
When I try to print (something with 1/2 tones) it comes up with a box called "print to file" & wants me to Save & won't let me print that page.
HP has a Postscript Driver -- why doesn't it work?
The Printer Prints fine -- it just won't print the 1/2 tones.
Is there some "setting" I'm over-looking?
I think that's the "ISSUE" -- I see the PPD box but I can not Select It. Is there anyway to make that Option available?I think that's the "ISSUE" -- I see the PPD box but I can not Select It. Is there anyway to make that Option available?

To work around this issue, reduce the complexity of your PostScript print job. For example, set the TrueType Font Download option to Automatic, Outline, or Bitmap as follows:
In Control Panel, open the Printers (or Printers and Faxes) folder.
Right-click your PostScript printer, and then click Properties.
Click Printing Preferences, click Layout, and then click Advanced.
Double-click PostScript Options, and then click TrueType Font Download Option.
In the True Type Font Download Option box, click Automatic. If Automatic is already selected, click Outline or Bitmap.
Close the Printer Properties dialog box, and then close Control Panel.
if everything else works ok except AutoCAD then the problem is not the printer, it is a broken data connection between AutoCAD & the printer. Sometimes all it takes is to unplug & replug the cable, or restart the pc with printer already connected.
Solution 1 :
Go to START MENU Choose RUN Type the letter "cmd" Type the word "net stop spooler" Exit Go to C drive Choose to Windows Folder Click show content Choose system32 folder Choose spool folder Choose printer And delete all printing jobs pending Again go back to CMD window and type the word "net start spooler" Restart your computer also turn off your printer and switch it on. It will work fine right now I hope it helps you
Solution 2.
Check the printer driver using device manage and maybe it is corrupted. Try test page if necessary.
Solution 3.
Reinstall the printer software
Solution 4.
Check the network switch hub and maybe some loose connection.
Solution 5.
Reinstall the printer software
Solution 6.
Check the configuration of the printer is somethings not correct.
1. Choose Start > Settings > Printers (Windows 2000) or Start > Printers and Faxes (Windows XP).
2. Right-click the printer, and then choose Properties from the menu.
3. Click the General tab, click Printing Preferences, and then click Advanced.
4. Expand the Document Options, and then expand the PostScript Options.
5. Set Send PostScript Error Handler to Yes.
Remove the printer software and use a generic Windows driver. That is the only way, since the status window is part of the driver software. If the printer is postscript enabled you can almost always use the HP laserjet 4 driver which is basically generic postscript.
I think that's the "ISSUE" -- I see the PPD box but I can not Select It. Is there anyway to make that Option available?
