My mp600 keeps saying close inner cover-which is closed

My printer is new. It worked for a short time and then wouldn't recognize the yellow ink cartdrige. Put in new yellow ink, now the printer has error message that says the INNER COVER IS OPEN-PLEASE CLOSE INNER COVER and press ok to continue." The cover is closed and I can't get the printer to print or the error to go away.

I had the same issue, turning off didn't solve it.
There's a plastic flap the width of the print tray just inside that I flipped up and it solved this problem. It is directly in front of the ink tanks. I'm assuming we flipped it down and forgot about it. It seems it needs to stay up, although you wouldn't notice it when it flips down when you close the top, as it closes just fine with it down. It's easy to overlook. This took me a few hours to realize.

The top of the flap has a half circle cut out of it in the middle.

More instructions - when you get to the link above, search for "inner cover open", then click on "Close the inner cover", and it shows you where it is.

I have a Canon MP510 printer and have changed the print cartridges many times for refills but am now always getting error 6502. I've tried turning it on and off, unplugging it, holding down power button...

hi,
you mentioned that you turn off and on these is on of the solution of your problem
but in your case it doesn't work

error 6502 arise when ink tanks not snapped properly
follow the steps below
  1. Confirm that the printer is powered on and pull open the paper output tray .
  2. Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)
  3. Open the inner cover.

    CAUTION:
    a. Do not try to manually move or stop the Print Head Holder.
    b. Do not touch any metal parts.
  4. Press on the pushmark.gif mark on the ink tank until the ink tank snaps firmly into place.
note:
Make sure that the ink tank is inserted in the slot that corresponds to the ink tank's color.
5.Ensure that all the ink tanks are installed properly and the ink tank lamps light red.
lampslightred.gif
1 -tank installed properly
2-not installed properly

6. check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.

  • - On: The printer is ready to print.
  • - Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
  • - Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
  • - Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.

  1. Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).

    Note:
    1. When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam your finger.
    2. When starting printing next time, the print head cleaning launches automatically.

I have a Canon MP600 printer and just changed 4 of the ink tanks. Even though the inner cover is closed I keep getting the error messaage "Inner cover is open. Close the inner cover and press...

  1. Have you tried turning the printer on/off?
  2. Did you replace the cartridges with the power on or off? Most printers require you to replace them with the power on.
  3. Try replacing the new one with the old ones. Do you get the same display?
  4. On the printer, is there an alignment button?

Good luck!

MP500 ink tank cannot be recognized error U043

I had the same problem. My mp630 is also only 4 months old. I replaced all colour ink cartrdiges(inc black), but was only able to release the function for detecting the ink levels for magenta and cyan. Yellow and black then started giving error message U043, with them alternating between working, but never working at the same time. Getting them all clicked in with the lights glowing red does not solve the problem, as once the printer cover is closed, the same error message turns up. The only thing that worked for me is moving the chip slightly out of alignment, by pushing the sliding chip holder, and I only had to do this twice before they all started working and the printer was unlocked.

Just bought new ink for my printer; Canon MP510 it says it cannot recognize magenta....it is the correct one CLI-8m, it lights up, then I close the cover , it says processing, then it says the following...

Hi, please try reseating the print head.

*Confirm that the printer is powered on.

*Open the paper output tray and top cover.
Note: Gently open the paper output tray while holding it.

*After confirming that the print head holder has moved to the center, open the inner cover.

*Remove all ink tanks.

*Raise the print head lock lever and remove the print head.

*Re-seat the print head into the print head holder and lower the print head lock lever until a click is heard.

*Insert the appropriate ink tank into the slot at the right end and push down on the PUSH mark on top of the ink tank until a click is heard. Install the other ink tanks in the same manner.

*Close the inner cover and top cover.
Note: Check that each ink tank is installed in the correct position.

If issue still present call your printer manufacturer for service.

Canon MP600 printer

sounds like the inner cover is not seating properly. so, perhaps there is something amiss inside, making that cover not latch cleanly? do a visual inspection(got one of those dental type mirrors?).

MP600 - Says inside cover is open - but it's not!

This is a hardware problem nothing to do with software; somewhere inside the printer a cover is not closed correctly.
