6E
Heater temperature does not go up enough.
(Slower temperature rise rate than 2°C/5
sec. is detected.)

To cancel the trouble status follows these steps:
STEP1 .Press MENU *,2,8,6,4
STEP2.The machine beeps for approx. one second and displays “MAINTENANCE" on the
LCD, indicating that it is placed in the initial stage of the maintenance mode, a mode in which
the machine is ready to accept entry from the keys.

STEP3.Now you are inside the simulation Press 01 to reset the trouble status.

STEP4.To exit the simulation press 99

Pressing the 9 key twice in the initial stage of the maintenance mode makes the machine
exit from the maintenance mode, restoring it to the standby state.
Pressing the Stop button after entering only one digit restores the machine to the initial
stage of the maintenance mode.

If again 6E occurs try to check the halogen lamp or power supply PCB.Contact authorized technician to do this checking.

I have a Brother DCP 8040 combination printer/copier/scanner. It copies and scans (to the computer) fine via a USB connection. I can't figure out how to make it print any document from the computer. If...

If you do not have communication by the printer when connected by USB cable to the USB Port on the Computer; you are lacking the updated printer drivers. Go to Brother on line, plug in the DCP 8040 ( the printer mod.) in the support area, and download the current printer drivers. Install the drivers and see if you can now connect properly. You can also use the Windows DEVICES to locate the printer and check for updates.

BROTHER DCP 8040 MULTIFUNCTION HAS AN ERROR MESSAGE: 7A. How do I fix it?

This error means that the Main motor is not synchronising with the reference clock.

This can be caused by several things...

  1. Could be a faulty motor.
  2. A faulty Engine Circuit Boaard.
  3. Fault on the Main PCB.
  4. A siezed Drum unit.
  5. Something seized up in the drive train.
Try to get it to start up with the Drum unit removed, if it does the initial rotations OK with no Drum unit installed, then try a new Drum unit.

Failing that, you will need to dismantle and inspect all the drive train and motor assemblies.

Good luck.

Brother 8040 error 6e

For error code 6E:

This means the heater temperature isn't rising fast enough.
The heater should rise at 2°C every 5 seconds.

You should first reset the code to see if the problem is just an anomoly or a real problem with the heating circuit (the halogen lamp and/or the power supply PCB). If after resetting the code the error returns, have a technician or service center diagnose which is the culprit (or you could simply replace both yourself -- if that is affordable to you).

To reset the trouble status follows these steps:
1. Press MENU *,2,8,6,4
2. The machine beeps for approx. one second and displays “MAINTENANCE" on the LCD, indicating that it is placed in the initial stage of the maintenance mode, a mode in which the machine is ready to accept entry from the key pad.
3. Now you are inside the simulation Press 01 to reset the trouble status.
4. To exit the simulation press 99.

• Pressing the 9 key twice in the initial stage of the maintenance mode makes the machine exit from the maintenance mode, restoring it to the standby state.
• Pressing the Stop button after entering only one digit restores the machine to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.

I hope this helps.

Unable to clean message in brother dcp-115c aio

I saw on this site codes for another MFC to clear memory and reset the cleaning unit count code to zero. It worked on two of my brother mfc 820cw units. The third mfc 5840cn had unable to print error message 46- nothing at Brother. they want you to take everything to a repair shop.they don't help at all. Then the error went to 4F when I tried toclear the memory. As Iunderstand that message- it means I have to replace the printer head. Have no clue where or what it is. But I can read a manual as well as anyone and follow directions to fix it! Can't be worse than it is now! Good luck
