Will not boot. can not access safe mode. can not enter bios

Does it make any noises? Does the display have any writing on it? What is happening? If you decide that you can't answer these questions, just throw the computer away and buy a new one.

My dell dimension 9200 is booting and then giving me a Floppy Diskette Seek Failure message. What is causing this to appear and not boot windows 7?

Hi. You computer seems to be booting up using the floppy disk and your floppy disk drive might not be connected properly, not working or not even there. Press F2 to run the setup utility and disable the floppy seek in the bios. It will most likely be in the "Advanced CMOS setup" area, or the 2nd screen depending on your bios. look for "Seek floppy drive at boot?" or, "Disable floppy seek at boot?" or something like that. When you find it, make sure it's not enabled for the seek. Save the change on exiting. :-)

Dell dimension 9200 year 2005 model not displaying anything on start up ..monitor isn't the problem .....always ran very slowly

So you don't even get the BIOS screen on star up? Here's a lik to your model's manual: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/manuals?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anavml
I would try re-seating the memory modules.

Dell Dimension 9200 beeps on startup, with nothing...

A beep code of 3-3-4= Video Memory(RAM) Test Failure that would explain why you get nothing on your screen the first thing you would need to do is disconnect your monitor and try it on another computer. if it works fine then the problem is your video card. If that the case and the video card is intergrated with the motherboard, you will need to repalce the motherboard --- Sorry-- Please vote me a 10 when this works

My cd/dvd tray will not stay closed on my Dell Dimension desktop computer

You can go to the BIOS page of the system by pressing F2 as soon as the Dell Logo comes up.

There is an option for you to load the system to its defaut settings.

Note: Don't forget to set your diskette drive to disabled or off before saving the settings or else the system will always prompt you a diskett drive seek failure message.

Dell Dimension 9200 "system does not support installed processor

This is really hard to say. Maybe he messed around in the BIOS settings and tried to overclock your processor. First thing I would do is to go into the BIOS (press F2 during startup) and check every setting. You can also reset it to default and see if that makes a difference.

Another possibility is that there is an issue with the RAM. Did you (or he) install new RAM? Look here to find a list of possible issues.

Check Dell's support page, to see if you can upgrade your BIOS.
Check your Device Manager (click Windowskey+R, type devmgmt.msc) for any unusual entries.

That's all I can think of right now. But please come back and post your findings (even if everything looks ok), so we can look into other places.

Dell Dimension 9200 keeps shutting down and won't start up

the key issue on the uncommanded shutdown is the POWER LED. If upon shutdown, the power LED Flashes AMBER, then the power supply is suspect.

If no flashing amber indication, then the next think I check is the heatsink (Processor overheating) remove, clean and apply arctic Silver heat transfer paste, see if the issuje goes away

Last but not least if the system is failing to boot, and displays a 3 4 diag LED code, then you may have a RAM module that is bad or may just need reseating. Running diags off of the Rersoujrce CD is something to look at too

How to exchange a super noisy vent inside the Dimension 9200 - where exactly is it mounted? (talking about the main/cpu vent - not GPU or powersupply)

Hi,

The Dimension 9200 is similar to XPS 410. Here is the link to the service manual for the Dim 9200 http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xps410/en/index.htm

The image below shows the location of the Proc Fan, which is located at the front behind the Dell logo
