This is really hard to say. Maybe he messed around in the BIOS settings and tried to overclock your processor. First thing I would do is to go into the BIOS (press F2 during startup) and check every setting. You can also reset it to default and see if that makes a difference.
Another possibility is that there is an issue with the RAM. Did you (or he) install new RAM? Look
here to find a list of possible issues.
Check Dell's
support page, to see if you can upgrade your BIOS.
Check your Device Manager (click Windowskey+R, type
devmgmt.msc) for any unusual entries.
That's all I can think of right now. But please come back and post your findings (even if everything looks ok), so we can look into other places.
