Bought a fairly used 2003 HDTV 4 months ago, Didnt come with remote but got a Universal I used that worked, my friend took the batteries out for a while for something else, we put the batteries back in the remote and the universal wont make my TV turn on at all (when I bought the TV the power button was broke so unsure how to turn on) with new batteries too.

try to boost the battery with external charger or find another battery and try to see if will solve the problem

The instructions on letting the Hipi remote to seach for the code that came with my remote are not correct. I used the instructions from HOWTO.COM and printed below. There are two changes from the printed instructions. The first is to push the <TV> button after the <Code Search> button. The second is that the <Enter> button saved the code not the <MUTE> button.

Turn on the Vizio TV.

Aim the Jumbo Universal Remote at the Vizio TV and hold down the "Code Search" button on the remove for roughly 3 to 5 seconds. The LED lights on the Jumbo Universal Remote will come on.

Press the "TV" button at the top of the Jumbo Universal Remote.

Start pressing the "ON/OFF" button repeatedly until the Vizio TV turns off. (This took only a few tries for my Vizio TV)

Press "Enter" on the remote immediately after the Vizio TV turns off to save the code.

Test the Jumbo Universal Remote by trying to control the Vizio TV with the remote. If the control doesn't work with the remote, repeat the entire process.

When the tv is turned on the blue light flashes it is not putting on the blue screen

I have a Dynex t.v, but my remot control doesn't work .

I have same problem, try making 2 balls of foil and put inbetween charger cradle and remote.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! mattymcmatt has the solution!!! I have had trouble with my Visio 26" remote ever since I got it several years back. Had to mess with the batteries, BUT Finally it quit entirely several months ago. I have tried everything... batteries, unplug TV, press each button on remote, etc... just bought a new remote, and tried all the above 'fixes' AGAIN nothing has worked. read mattymcmatt's fix of unplugging tv held down the on button on the tv for little over a minute, plugged tv back in and and VIOLA my remote is now WORKING!!! thankyou matty!!!!

On some sets you can use the menu button to enter the menu and navigate to the page which shows what input is currently selected and change it there. If your set does not have that option, then you will need the remote to do it. I have found that on some universal remotes, the TV/VCR button switches the inputs on the TV when the remote is in the TV mode. If that button does not work on your remote for your set, and you have tried all possible codes for JVC TVs, then the only way to switch inputs is to invest a few dollars more and get an original remote from JVC or have the set repaired so that the input button on the TV functions again.

NOT A SOLUTION, however my remote stopped working a couple months ago. I subsequently tried several universal remotes - none of these worked. An educated guess might be that the problem is NOT with the remote control unit, but rather something inside the set itself. This might also explain why the MW24FM1 you bought "didn't come with a remote".
