Whirlpool model GU2500XTPQ6 has the clean led flashing 7 times and will not run. Is there something that I can check before calling out the expensive repair man? Unit is 18 months old. Thanks Scott
Actually, the button order to put it in a diagnostic cycle and clear the blinking clean light on the gu2500 is HEATED DRY, NORMAL, HEATED DRY, NORMAL not the other way around as Iden had posted.
We have the same problem, I found this on the net. press normal, heat dry, normal, heat dry. This will run it through a cycle and stop the light. It still is doing it on a regular basis, but at least I can clear it and keep using it.
The problem the first time this happened was that the control panel was fried and needed to be replaced. The second time this happened (yup, twice!) was that the switches when the door closed were not connecting properly and both had to be replaced.

We have the same problem. The one solution suggested here did not work so we're still looking for help...
Same problem and will now not start up again? I had just used the Glass Xpress option and then this problem began?
Thanks,
Donna
Same Problem after 7 days away on vacation!! Clean light blinks 7 times. Using the key sequence below cleared the error and allowed normal wash cycles to resume. Hope the problem does not come back. This unit is about 3.5 years Old and has never had another problem. Why doesn't the troubleshouting section of the manual simply say to do this ? Instead it says you have to call for service!!
Thanks Eric.
Toby,
Thanks I used the procedure and it worked for me.
I have the same blinking clean light problem and am running the diagnostic now using the HEATED DRY, NORMAL, HEATED DRY, NORMAL mentioned above.
Will this yield an error code and if so, where can I find what it means?
I have the 7 time blinking clean light problem. After entering the code to clear I saw a d1 code. The washer started working again but I dont know if the problem will reoccure. What does the code mean? Will the problem return on the first run cycle?
