I replace the turbo unit on 03volvo xc70 now i have heavy white smoke

White smoke is water/coolant burning.
Blue smoke is oil.
Black smoke is unburned gasoline heating up in the exhaust.

Water cooled turbo? If so, leaking seal on the turbo.

    HELLO AND THANKS AGAIN. YOU KNOW I TESTED THE CAR YESTERDAY AND I KNOW THE SMOKE IS WHITE B CUZ I CAN SEE IT BUT I PUT 4 QUARTZ OF OIL AND IT BURN THEM SO I GUESS IM BURNING OIL BUT IT WAS NOT BURNING IT BEFORE I REPLACE TH ETURBO UNIT. WOULD YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE N IDEA OF WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE. THANK YOU AGAIN THANK S

Black smoke in the exhaust and in high rpm white on passat 1.9tdi
this case , you have to check turbo charger , when high RPM white smoke means lubricate oil goes to engine so give white smoke . on low rpm trubo close coming black smoke means no enough air gose to engine so this need to replace turbo . some type of turbo can be clean the wase gate ( which open with diafam beside turbo) make sure it's moving when accilerate. check vacum is ok . then clean wase gate > only some type have wings inside )if no replace turbo

WHITE SMOKE MEANS ENGINE IS BURNING ANTIFREEZE.TURBO WILL SMOKE HEAVY BLUE WHEN TURBO SEAL FAIL.ALSO YOU WILL LOSE POWER.YOUR CAR IS TOO NEW.TO HAVE PROBLEMS.YOUR CAR SHOULD BE WARRANTY COVER.TAKE IT TO SAAB DEALERSHIP.LET THEM CHECK IT OUT.

I would like some advise on my saab se turbo please my car is blowing blue smoke ive been told it is my turbo if so could it of done any damage to my engine
IS the smoking extremly heavy ? Extreme heavy smoke where you cant see behind the car would indicate turbo. If this is the case no engine damage should have occured. The turbo on these cars are oil and water cooled, The heavy smoke indicates a worn seal in the turbocharger is leaking oil directly into the exhaust system and burning there. Catylitic and oxygen sensor damage may occur but engine damage is unlikely.

Heavy smoke on start up
sounds more like a worn turbocharger with bad seals.  Sadly this will be expensive.  Remanufactured turbos are available.
