Neptune #MAH6700AAW will not drain, how to test control board?

Neptune #MAH6700AAW will not drain. No blockage in drain system, and I tried to relplace the pump but still does not drain. I have been told that the "control Board" could be bad. I would like any information that would be helpful on how to test control board? I would like to make sure the Control Board is bad before I purchase an new one. Thanks, Brian

    Hi Brian, I have the exactly the same problem. I checked the pump with applying 120VAC and works, I put it back it still has the same problem. It stops when it's on rinse mode, then shows "nd". What was your solution?.

    Thanks

Have you checked lid switch? If bad, unit will not spin and drain.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean(ref manual). There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune MAH5500BWW Will not spin

maytag neptune washers do have a motor problem and they have a kit to replace the motor and motor controller.
when the motor fails, it wont wash or spin. most units have a 5 year parts warranty and should be replaced with a free part, but you will have to pay an authorized servicer to do this.
if it is over 5 years then i would call maytag and see if they will help you with an authorization for repair.
most of the time they will provide the part for free. just call the 800 # and ask for help. they wont send you the part but might give you some help with the parts.

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune Top Load FAV6800AWW -- tub/motor will not spin

Hey Cameron,
I saw you post today on another forum and did not have time to put my thoughts down before work. I agree not a clutch issue I had to :), you would be so lucky. I own the machine and can’t offer any more troubleshooting then what you have done, good job of that. Unfortunately the FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW SM doesn’t have a whole lot of support for troubleshooting beyond what you have done for this issue. I found more info from the MAH3000 manual on the technical operation of the motor controller (slightly different controller). Both machines use the same troubleshooting paths. Remove JP4 which is;
P1 Motor Control common
P2 Torque (to Motor Controller) see page 1-11 MAH3000
P3 Motor Control Tach (to control board input)
My WAG is replace the Motor Controller 1st, then Control board 2nd and a possible tach issue related to the motor. That’s enough WAGing,…. but with troubleshooting not a complete WAG :).
Take a look at pages 2-5 thru 2-11, I keyed in on page 2-11 in the MAH3000, it may give you some additional insight, I know we are dealing with different machine designs but I think the designs are close regarding motor controller, the motor and what the Control Board is doing and looking for with input from the Motor Controller. I wish the FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW SM gave this kind of detail for troubleshooting. There is a nice little troubleshooting table on 2-11.
I keyed in on this note;

The motor control monitors the signals and communicates this information to the machine control (control board). The purpose of this signal is to tell the motor when to energize each winding in the motor and to tell the machine control the actual motor speed.

Then this note;
Note: If the machine control board does not receive an input signal from the motor control/tachometer circuit (JP4 connector), the motor speed will rapidly accelerate for 5 seconds then shut down. The machine control will sense a "locked rotor" condition and the motor will stop. If the motor control does not receive an input signal from the motor, the motor will "****" for 5 seconds then shut down.

I don’t believe you have that condition. I have worked with a forum member who had an issue with the motor controller related to an Lr error, locked rotor error and replacing the Motor Controller fixed the issue. Form here I vote for an issue with the Motor Controller. Not having known good parts makes this a difficult job.
The control board is under warranty for 5 yrs from DOP, the Control Board is 2 yrs. Ebay is a good source 25001079

I would push Maytag CSV for both. I got them to send me a Control Board after discussing my troubleshooting and that I had a neighbor (me) that was a repair tech who would install. I also had to send them copy of my warranty not sure why they beeded that my machine was on file with them.
In your console you will find a Troubleshooting guide if you haven’t pulled it out already. It has the schematic for the machine which I find handy. If you want a soft PDF copy of the schematic I can e-mail you. Just ping me at [email protected]. I use that for one-way contact, just respond back on this post if you ping me, I don’t check the account for month’s at a time.
With my limited knowledge I will try to help you. Good luck. Rich

there are 2 wires going back to the board. They connect to a blue harness. Make sure their is continuity thru the harness. It connects to 3 out of balance swithches. Also check to see if lock light comes on.

I have a maytag neptune front load washer mah9700, and i need to know how to reset it. its on a quick wash cycle, but it has a delay for the door to lock , then when it does, it does nothing. it has a...

The "nd" error code on a Maytag Neptune MAH9700 means that the water level is not draining quickly enough or at all, in some cases a symptom of a restricted drain system or a hose twist. If you have the tools and don't want to call a repair technician, the service manual (found at http://www.applianceblog.com/manuals/16025909.pdf), recommends the following steps:
1. Check for restricted drain system. 2. In cold climates, check for frozen drain hose. 3. Check for 120 VAC at the pump when a spin cycle is selected. 4. Check pump motor winding resistance. (14.2 +/- 7% ohms) 5. Check that the machine control correctly senses the water level in the washer [by performing the] Board Input Test [found in the manual]. 6. [Perform the] Board Output Test and perform the Pump Out Test. 7. Check the Machine Control Board connections at CN10 (Pin 6) for the pump. Should see 110-120VAC.(Refer to the component testing procedure). 8. Check tub to pump hose for twist in hose.
I would recommend trying several of these steps that are within your comfort level. If the problem persists, it may best be solved by a licensed repairman.

How do i fix nd code for mde5500ayw maytag neptune

There are two possible causes to the "nd" code. The first is with the pump itself. Either is is blocked or it is simply worn out and needs replacing. The second is a malfunction with the control board. Unless you find a blockage to the pump there is no way to know which one is the cause of the "nd" code without some testing or replace these items.
If you are unafraid of facing your washer with tools in hand then you should be able to test the pump. As for the board, all you can do is check it for damage most likely caused from a component melt down. In which case it's going to need replacement.

But check for blockages first because that will cause the "nd" code.
I hope this helps and good luck.

UC code on may Maytag Neptune Washer FAV6800WW

Continuous Unbalanced Circuit. Improper signal from Tub Displacement Sensor.
Wet Clothes • Very small clothes loads can cause unbalanced loads - add additional towels. • Excessive suds may have been present. • Check Tub Displacement Sensor connection and main harness connector at machine control board. • Check Tub Displacement Sensor for 0 to 3.0 Volts DC output voltage between ground and the board input. Check for 12 Volts DC input voltage between the ground and the board output. Only check for voltage at the Tub Displacement Sensor. Do not perform a continuity check. See Tub Displacement Diagnostics • Excessive motion was detected in spin Run Quick Spin Test with an empty tub to check Tub Displacement Sensor and machine control board. • Check for restricted drain system.

Does not drain

Check drain hose first.

If you do not find any blockage, then you will need to access the pump, remove pump hose and look for blockage in there.

If there is no blockage at all, then either the water level switch, a faulty pump, a wiring problem, or a faulty timer board can be cause the machine not draining.
