My new Hitachi CS33EB starts fine when cold but after about ten minutes of use and shutting down for even two minutes it won't start until totally cooled off. I am at an elevation of 6800 feet. Does this affect the problem?

This sounds very much like a bad ignition unit, if they are going to break down they will do it when they are hot, the only answer here is to replace the unit.

Loosen the fuel cap just before you shut it down. Close it just prior to restart. If that corrects it, there is a fuel vent problem. HTH

might pay to check the fuel tank breather , make sure its venting
check the ignition coil it may be going open circuit loosing its spark when it getts warm or hot , you have to wait till it cools to re-start
you will need a spark tester fitted in between ht lead and plug to check this visually when its running
check for a kill wire grounding 1st

Mine did same thing stopped using universal gas mix and went back to original manufacturers mix saw cooled down and never did it again

If is new problably it has chain lubricating oil.So whe useing the saw oil pumps out to do the job.So check out the oil.If no oil brought the saw to the store for waranty.
