Will not assign IP address

My router will not assign an IP address for my Xbox 360. I have 4 laptops that work just fine, but my Xbox says " Can't obtain an IP address from router".

SOURCE: My router DI-624 does not get an IP address

Is the M2 LED light on? That's a light that tells you if a problem exists with the hardware itself.

If you connect the laptop directly to the modem does it connect okay? That will tell you whether it's your laptop and cable that might be the problem.

If it does connect okay with just the laptop and modem in the mix try these steps:

-disconnect the modem from your laptop
-double check that your laptop has no static IP info on the network card including a gateway or DNS settings
-power off your laptop and the router
-connect the laptop to the router (port 1 on the back)
-disconnect the router from the modem so only the laptop is connected to it
-power on the router
-power on the laptop
-make sure a green light appears on the front for port 1
-type in ipconfig /flushdns at a command prompt
-see if you can ping the default IP address 192.168.0.1
-if you can, see if you can connect to the router console
-if not, hold the reset button in for 10 seconds and release
-wait for the router to come back to green lights
-reboot your laptop
-try to access console menu again

If your laptop doesn't work when connecting directly to the modem, we can take other troubleshooting steps together.

Let me know how it goes and if it works don't forget to rate this solution! :)

SOURCE: DIR-655 does not allow Avaya VOIP phone to work

You need to check the DHCP configuration on your router. Also try setting up a static IP on your VOIP phone & try.

Does not assign or recognize an IP address for my xbox 360

If you are using Wi-Fi make sure you have the xbox using DHCP settings. If you mimmic an IP addy on your network it will cause them to fail. Never manually assign your IP address with a router UNLESS you are very familiar with them.

I have a router with multipul outlets with 2 computers and xboxs 360 live ..can i have 2 xbox 360 live signed up to work at the same time..?

Yes you can run two Xboxes on LIVE at the same time, provided you have a separate LIVE account for each console, and different IP addresses for each Xbox. Assign static IP addresses for your xboxes from within the router's setup page.

I hope that helps.

Xbox Live connection problem

Hi,
In this regard, I would recommend you to forward certain port no’s on
the Router.

Port numbers: UDP- 88, TCP/UDP- 3074

It is in this context, I would suggest you to please try with the
following troubleshooting steps:

A) Assign static IP and DNS address to the XBOX.

1. Assign IP address as: 192.168.1.50; Subnet mask as: 255.255.255.0
and Default Gateway as: 192.168.1.1
2. Assign Primary DNS Address as: 192.168.1.1 and Secondary DNS
Address as: 4.2.2.2

# Please Contact X-Box Technical Support to assign the Static IP
Address on Your X-Box.

C) Open the ports on the Router using the following steps:

1. Click on Port Forwarding under Advanced.
2. Click on ‘Port Forwarding’ on the left hand column on the screen.
3. On the bottom of the screen, click on ‘Add Custom Service’.
4. Give a name to the service (for example, XBOX1).
5. Select Service Type as UDP and key in the starting port and ending
port as 88.
6. In the Server IP Address specify 192.168.1.50
7. Hit ‘Apply’.
8. Click on 'Wan Setup' Under 'Advanced'.
9. Check the box 'DMZ Server'. Type in the IP Address 192.168.1.50.
Click On 'Apply'.
10. Log Out of the Router Page.

Please repeat Steps 3 – 7 to configure the ports “UDP/TCP 3074”.

Can't connect with network

if u dont hav e a router that is ur problem. to get ur xbox 360 to connect to vista media center you cannot connect an ethernet cord directly to ur 360, u must have ur computer hooked to a router with one ethernet cord and a whole different ethernet cord connecting to the same router the computers hooked up to. after you do that go to ur vista media center, turn active sharing on, make sure your router is connected to the internet. then go to ur xbox 360 and follow the on screen instruction from the the connect to media center screen.
if your wanting to connect to xbox live and stuff like that, and u enter ur ip address and security information and it tells u that the ip adress u entered is already in use by another device, and that ur xbox 360 needs to be assigned one, do this: simply go to were u put in ur ip address and set it to get the address automaticly (or in other words choose automatic). then go to test connection (ur router should automaticly assign ur xbox 360 an ip address) and ur router should connect to the internet. if it connects to the internet but not xbox live then u have not yet sign up for an xbox live account.

by the way when u make an xbox live account please send me a friend request. my xboxc live account name is: ghdude22

glad i could help!!! :3

My xbox 360 says i need an IP adress

The XBOX is configured for connecting to a router or server that will assign it an IP address. Connect it to your router instead of your laptop.

ADSL Zoom x6 5590 DNS 360 Problem

Yes the router assigns an internal IP address. connect it up then using your PC go into the configuration of your router (http://10.0.0.2) and look under system status, scroll to the bottom and under DCHP status you will see a list of all clients connected. Your Xbox will be listed along with its internal IP address.

Xbox 360 live on wireless router

In theory you should be able to "share" your internet connection. I use a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router and I have a Linksys Game adapter on my son's 360. He has not complained about lag or slow server times unless other intensive bandwidth is being used.

Can not access my ip address in order to change NAT settings

Hi Brengolfter3,

My guess is, the IP to your router is still 192.168.x.x. Only way you are going to be able to get to the router, is to set your machine to a static IP, and then try to get to the router.
This site tells you how set it to static, http://corz.org/comms/hardware/router/static.ip.address.php

The IP you listed is assigned to Easton Utilites, so I have asume it is your internet IP. You might want to check the Xbox troubleshooting for the Xbox, so you don't have to disable your Nat, which is a firewall, by default. Good Luck!

Xbox 360 help

All devices on your network should be assigned an IP address. They need it to be identified on the network. You can try rebooting your router. The wireless on belkin routers can be a bit temperamental. Then try the 360 setup. If you are still coming up blanks, then check your router's DHCP server setting. Make sure that it is turned on. (It is the function that assigns the IP address.) My lat suggestion is to manually assign an address to the 360. Try this only if you are familiar with how IP addresses work. Hope this helps....
