Front Loading Duet Washer will not start

My Duet washer just stopped working. I pushed the control on button and set the cycle but the cycle light just flashes and when I push the start button nothing happens. Any ideas?

I have a Duet model# GHW9200LW. It was working fine until this morning. It will not start; cycle light just flashes. There are no codes on display. I cannot do the diagnostic test that the manual suggests.

You have to set your programme FIRST, then put the "on" switch. Try.

    Try:
See that you have not over-loaded your machine. Press 'end of cycle' button for about 5 seconds. Re-try your wash cycle from the start.

  • Anonymous Apr 03, 2009

Push 'end of cycle' button OR Unplug machine for half an hour it may reset itself.

I've got same problem, with the door stuck shut, door lock NOT on, water trapped in the machine, and still no solution. 8 pages of messages and no solution.

Aha. I had to get a smaller person to unplug the machine, then plug it back in. It reset or something, because now it works.

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question!@!@

Whirlpool Duet Front Loading Washer Won't Turn On

MY WASHER WAS DOING BASICALLY THE SAME THING. I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL FRONT LOADER MODEL #GHW9460PL0. MY HUBBY REMOVED THE 3 SCREWS FROM THE BACK OF THE WASHER, UNPLUG IT FIRST, AND TOOK THE TOP OFF. WE THEN CAREFULLY UNPLUG THE WIRES AND REPLUGGED THEM BACK IN 1 BY 1 SO U WONT GET THEM MIXED UP. WE THEN TRYED IT, AND THE CONTROL LOCKED LITE STAYED LIT. HE HELD THE SIGNAL CYCLE BUTTON IN FOR 3 SECONDS AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. WE THEN TRYED RUNNING A CYCLE AND SO FAR SO GOOD!! GOOD LUCK!

WHIRLPOOL FRONT LOADING WASHER MODEL #GHW9460PL0

I have a Sears front load made by Whirlpool. It had a problem locking door. I replaced latch/switch assembly and still would not work. Took top of washer off 3 or 4 screws on back of machine lift up lid and slide back. Make sure washer is unplugged. Presto you can see wiring and control. Unplugged connectors on control and plugged them back in then tried washer and it works.

Whirlpool Duet front load washer

If you push the end of cycle button for 5-6 secs. It turns the control lock on, do it again, and it turns the control lock off, on both the washer and the dryer
