At what age does a baby need to face frontward

Now both the AAP and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommend children face backward until they outgrow their seat. That means most children should remain in a rear-facing car seat until they're at least 2 or 3 years old.

I was wondering if it is safer to install baby's carseat in the middle rather than on the side

Yes, most manufacturers recommend installing your car seat in the middle of the rear seat to reduce the risk to your baby should a side impact occur. The farther your baby is from the walls of the car, the less chance that a physical hit will occur.

That said, it is still safe to install your car seat on the side, as may be necessary if you have two children in car seats.

Many law enforcement agencies offer free car seat installation inspections to make certain your car seat is installed correctly. Check the National Highway Traffic Safety Association website for local options: http://www.nhtsa.gov/cps/cpsfitting/index.cfm

I want to make sure I am using the seatbelt properly with the front facing carseat. The careseat was given to me and I have no book with it.

Depending on the type of front facing carseat you have depends on the belt connections in the back of the seat. Normaly you would pull the complete sholder and seat belt through the opening hone closes to the door so the seat belt goes through the back of the seat from top to bottom and latch the seatbelt. Then the normal harnes in the seat would be used on your child from the forward facing car seat. After setting the car seat up the correct way it normaly just needs to be checked each time you enter the car to take a drive for tightness of the belt and rensure the lack is on the seatbelt. Some come with a seatbelt holder that looks like a crazy piece of metal this is used to help secure the seatbelt into one belt to help the input of the seatbelt into the back of the seat.

I know new seats have the sholder holders on the right or left side so that the seat belt from your car can be used, it is important that you stop by a police station or firestation to have help ensuring that your seat for your child is correctly placed. Across the US there as places even hospitals that will assist you in ensuring you seat is set up correctly to help you protect the life of your child. You can call down the the Local police and ask about the classes available too. I have moved from all over the US and have always found that you can have you seats for children comfirmed just about anywhere that deals with children even social work services, Each year there is a annual seatbelt childsafty taskforce community round up that deals just with car seats put on by local police/firemen/and SWS.

I have 5 children and use to run a daycare for special needs children, School teacher for middle school, I have double associates one in accounting one in business and a Bacholors in Psychology, attending Master classes for clinical psychology to help people, and the local handyman of my home, my husband is active duty Army, needless to say with the war and after 9/11, I have had to do everything for myself so I picked up much being somewhat signel mother of 5 children, one from birth up to 16 so far.

How do i turn off airbag 2001 mercury sable

It is not able to be turned off on your vehicle. you would have to physically disconnect the air bag, then none would work. Children that young should not ride in the front seat anyway.

Need a car seat manual

Types of car safety seats at a glance
The chart below is a quick guide on where to start your search. However, it’s important to read more about the features and how to use your car safety seat.
Age Type of Seat General Guideline Infants Infant seats and rear-facing convertible seats All infants should always ride rear-facing until they are at least 1 year of age and weigh at least 20 pounds. Toddlers/Preschoolers Convertible seats It is best to ride rear-facing as long as possible. Children 1 year of age and at least 20 pounds can ride forward-facing. School-aged children Booster seats Booster seats are for older children who have outgrown their forward-facing car safety seats. Children should stay in a booster seat until adult belts fit correctly (usually when a child reaches about 4' 9" in height and is between 8 and 12 years of age). Older children Seat belts Children who have outgrown their booster seats should ride in a lap and shoulder belt in the back seat until 13 years of age.

Ford Focus 2006 model airbag deactivation

Children in car seats should never be put in the front seat.  In fact children under the age of 13 should never be in the front seat.  Their bodies are not large enough or strong enough to sustain the impact of a crash or an airbag.  For your baby's safety and your peace of mind it'd be best for you to keep your baby in the rear seat and get a mirror for the back seat to see what's going on.
