SOURCE: cleaning

If practical - the best way to clean a unit like you're describing would be by using 'air pressure,' to blow the dust out of the coils, squirrel cage, and in and around the fan motor and compressor.

Then take a water hose and wash both coils being real careful to "not" get water in the fan motor. Note: the compressor is sealed so you don't have to worry about it, but try to be careful and keep water out of the controls/wires (you might even use plastic to protect them).

Also, be sure you install a 'clean/new' air filter in the unit itself. This filter goes in front of the evaporator coil which is the coil that gets cold. The other coil - the condenser coil (the one that gets hot) does not need a filter.

good luck!

How to defog windows when a/c is running

the ac is the best item to use to demist windows as it removes the humidity from the cabin air
make sure that the vent control is set to re-circle cabin air and not get air from outside
run the ac with the heater control removes fogged up windows quickly
If there is a smoker in the car , clean the interior glass with suitable c glass cleaning agents as the oil from the smoke makes defogging extremely difficult

Why would it stop shifting after i sprayed it with a waterhose

Try Jacking up one wheel on back and let it turn free then let it back down Do the same for the front , if you have not lock out hubs.
We used to have to do that with Jeeps, in the military, after running on hard surfaces. They get wound up and you can not shift them.

My unit has a ton of black mold in the back of it; should I be worried; how do i clean it??? Also i need to know the best way to clean the filter? I just moved in to an apt with this unit and i've...

I would let the managment know about the mold problem, this can be serious. If you want to clean this yourself, use rubber gloves, a brush, and buy a spray bottle of mold remover. The filter should be located behind the front grill. It should snap loose, and they are normally made of a foam material that you can wash in your sink and let dry. Sometimes they remove them a throw them out!! If this is the case, let them no about that also. Please keep me posted.

How do i fix a leaky air conditioner? it is a fedders A3X05F2B INstalled in the wall and it is leaking in to my house.

It is the drain line clogged that should normally go outside. The best way to clean a window unit is take it out of window. Take off the cover and using a waterhose, Clean the evaporator and condensor. Make sure drain line drains to the back of the unit. from inside to outside. While you are there if the fan motor has oilers on it then oil bearings. Install cover and put back in the window and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Icing up of unit

When you clean the Ac unit, Make sure to take the Unit completly out and clean both the condensor coil as well as the Evaporator coil.
If you are able to run the unit with it out of the window. See if there are any service ports connected to the unit (Guage hook ups), or any OIL spots where is looks dark, (Checking to see) if its leaking.

Wasnt sure how you cleaned the unit, So just make sure both coils are cleaned well with water, and make sure to avoid getting to much water into the Electronics.
Good Luck!

Replaced battery on 2002 gmc envoy. now it goes dead when air is

your alternator may be the problem here. When the AC is on, the motor has to work harder, and the fans need eletricity to spin (unless they are powered by a belt, unsure). If the alternator can't keep up the battery will die.
