Analog white-westinghouse tv has blue screen and no sound. Connected to digital converter. screen does not change and after 5 minutes the tv shuts off

This pertains to a White-Westinghouse CRT television. The set was working fine until we had several power glitches. Now I nothing but a blue screen and no sound. It responds to the remote. It's connected to a DTV converter and both were on when the glitches happened. Now, the TV shuts off by itself after 5 minutes. I've checked the settings and the timer settings are set to zero, including the sleep timer.

How do i have sound come out of the coaxial digital out?

Hi, the fisrt step is to connect a toslink cable from TV output to an amplifier with optical input, or if your amplifier has only analog audio inputs (RCA red and white connectors), you have to use an digital to analog converter device. After cables are connected, usually you must change which type of audio connection you will use in TV menu, in audio options.

Have a westinghouse lcd tv 50inch model ew50t5kw and would like to know before changing any parts or boards what causes a blue screen no sound or picture

  1. Frank: Verizon. com says try this: Change your VCR's Channel to 3 or 4. Most blue screen issues are caused by the VCR not being set to Channel 3 or 4. If changing the VCR's channel (using the channel buttons on the VCR or from the VCR remote control) did not change your TV screen, go to step 2.
  2. Make sure your TV is not in Video mode. There are three possible ways to change your TV's mode using your TV remote control: 1) Press a Mode button, toggle through the options and select TV, 2) Press a Video button to change your TV's mode from Video to TV or 3) Press Menu, locate Mode or Audio/Video setup and select TV from one of the options. If you are not sure how to change your TV's mode, see your TV's user guide for more information.
  3. Check to make sure your set-top box is plugged in and turned on.
  4. Check to see if other TVs (connected to different outlets) have a blue screen. If they do, contact the Verizon Fiber Solutions Center.

How do I hook up Coby 5" black & white TV to my digital converter box ?

You will need a digital to analog converter which you can get at Radio Shack, Best Buy and most big box retail outlets or online. Your Coby is most likely analog and will require the digital signal to be converted to an analog signal from the digital converter box to the TV. UNLESS the digital converter box has analog (round connectors on the back) then you just need an analog RCA cable (which you can also get almost anywhere even your local CVS/Walgreens) to make the connection.

Sound but the screen on my westinghouse 32 inch flat screen is solid lime green

By "sound but the screen on my westinghouse 32 inch flat screen is solid lime green" Do you mean that you have sound but the screen is green? If yes it means that an analog signal is being fed to a digital input. Did you recently change the input cables at the back from one port to another? If not then please describe what are colors of the cabels you are using(Yellow, Red, White or Red Blue Gren etc.,) and what port they are connected to so that I can tell you whether its a problem with the connections or the tv itself.

Connecting a toshiba sd-v392 to an old analog tv

Make sure your menu settings are correct audio outputs may have a setting for digital or analog sound output check that these are set up to analog or stereo output .Also try hooking the sound up direct to a stereo system or amp to be sure you have output! Also you may not be able to get your sound thru the convertor box!! Because the convertor is a reciever of digital signals not a line amp. for audio !! Hope this helps11 AAAAAAAAAAAAAE!!!! TB100MW9 DTV DIGITAL TO ANALOG CONVERTER

I assume you are attempting to connect another device to the set.
Selection of the output channel is normally accomplished from the external device, not the set.
