SOURCE: Hey there! I own an Acer
From what you are saying, the overheating inerrupted the disk error repair. You would need to repair your operating system using your Windows CD. Now to deal with your overheating, I recommend that you purchase a laptop cooling fan from a computer acceceries shop near you. It's normally a simple plastic pad with fans in it on which you place your laptop. I suggest that you obtain this before you go on with the repair since the laptop may heat again and interrrupt your repair.

There should be a USB receiver inside the battery compartment of your mouse.
Plug it in to the computer and try using the connect button on the keyboard and mouse.
That should do the trick.

1) I would suggest first opening the case up and clearing out any dust - dust is one of the top causes of heat incubation and thus decreased performance. It's handy to take it outside/in the garage and use a can of compressed air. This will make a huge difference
2) Check to make sure that all of your case fan's are working, they are super cheap to replace if they are broken or malfunctioning (5-8$ at a local chop shop).
3) Sounds obvious but make sure that the machine is not near any heat sources, and that the fans are not pressed against a wall or desk - they need atleast 6" of clearance to work properly.
4) When the machine is running open your system task manager (alt+ctrl+del). Look at the processes running, and make sure that nothing that shouldn't be running is. Look especially for processes that have high memory usage and make sure you know what they are. If you find a bunch of unnecessary process running, and they are not system critical (i.e. svchhost.exe), just end the processes, that should help out a lot.
Lemme know if this helps
Cheers,

Try adding this line to the config.wtf file in the WTF folder in the World of Warcraft folder:
SET fixedFunction "1"
Use WordPad to open the config.wtf file.
