Hold cook time button and stop time button together and while both buttons pressed in, use + and - buttons to set time.

Your heater is probably equipped with a bimetal thermal switch to prevent overheating and, if it is like most made in China now, it is defective or at least highly inaccurate.
If you can locate the device, using a metal shield to divert some of the heat will help it serve its original function as a safety.
Look for a thick (4-5 mm), button-like device with two terminals and a diameter of 1.5-2.0 cm.
This point of failure is shared with a majority of drip coffee makers that fail way too early.

Eventually I have tracked down the manual on ebay-it is available through the seller ' usbdesarch' who appeared to have a selection of manauls available. If I can post a copy on here when I recieve it I will though I'm not sure how to upload a PDF? Any ideas how I would make this available to the widest audience? I have no website to host the file from.
