No matter what chute we put wood in our yard machine by mtd 24a-465A000 it shreds everything how do we get it to chip

It is useful to have the (what it is) as part of 'make model (what it is)' in questions. It appears that nearly everything they sell is a 24A and there is no manual listed for your model. There is a chipper and a self propelled mower with similar suffixes after the 24A.

My searches suggest there is no decompressor. Pull ropes braking are usually because of friction in the pull cord mechanism and its drive into the crankshaft.

If you can see the cylinder head there should be a cable for the decompressor or linkage that opens the exhaust valve.

giving a short

Go to www.ordertree.com. The flailblade is p/n 719-0329, The shredder blade is p/n 942-0571, The chipper blade is p/n 981-0490.
Replace them you have to take casing off the unit to get to them.

first make sure the belt is not hitting anything when the blade is engaged (engine off), the if ok remove belt and look in pulley grooves for rocks or chips., then run finger all around groove to make sure there is no catches or spurs. If that is all ok then with belt on and engine idleing as slow as possible and blade engaged look and see if pulley is wobbling, BE CAREFULL !! look at the engine pulley first then with EXTREME CAUTION look under deck from opposte side of chute. ( Check with deck at highest setting)

Sounds like the carb is gummed up. Do a complete carb cleaning and see if it helps.

Great input tina783. I have just one thing to add. Try to shred the branches within a reasonable amount of time. I found out that with my shredder, if I put older, dried up branches in, it tends to take a lot more time, as well as tosses chips back out at you. With newly cut branches, this wasn't nearly as much as an issue.
