1) Verify a circuit breaker isn't tripped

2) Advance the timer control dial slowly 360 degrees-

If the washer starts spinning, then we know the motor and drive belt are fine but that there is something wrong with either the timer control dial or the agitator solenoid. Call in a professional for this.

If the washer doesn't budge, then verify that the drive belt(s) is attached and not broken by removing the back panel. If the belt is broken, replace it. If it is loose, then tighten it by loosening up the bolt holding the motor and moving it on its swingarm (much like a car alternator) until there is a 1/2 to 3/4 inch deflection in the belt.
Some washers use reversing motors. It's possible the motor works on the spin cycle but not on the wash cycle. If so, call a pro.

3) Visually inspect the lid safety switch- Is it loose or cracked? If so, the washer might work intermittently, stopping at different cycles.

4) Check motor and drive belt- Remove the main access panel (usually in the back). Is the motor spinning, but the drive belt isn't? If so, then you have a drive belt problem.

I have a NEW Roper Washer. It agitates somewhat slowly. My old washer agitated FAST. Is this normal for a Roper?

I would have a look at the cam dogs located in the agitator and the motor coupler or belt if not direct drive. check for loose clutch or slipping tranny. also check for worn agitator spline

Kenmore top load washer if agitating very slow

I would check the agitator dogs, as they are called. More than likely they need to be replaced.

Roper washer agitator won't spin after kids loaded

Hi,
It sounds like a someone has broke the lid switch to the washer. Below I have attached a picture, Item number 9 would be the part you seek. P# 3949247 Under the control panel you will find a harness that contains 3 wires coming out of the cabinet housing. The colors should be tan, white and green. If you jump the white and tan you unit should run and think the lid switch is working. Safety way is to unplug the unit to by-pass the switch and plug it back in and select spin only. This is only to test, you need a lid switch for safety. You should replace it ASAP if this test works for you.

Washer stop spinning and water drains out slowly

Im not sure on why the water drains out slowly maybe a clogged drain hose or possibly a leak in the water pump.. as for spinning. if the whole unit spinning as in the drum? if not you have something called a motor coupling it is in between the motor and transmission if you tilt your washer and see black or white shavings then you know your coupling is broken .. is the agitator spinning? inside the middle there are something called Dog agitators they are four if they should have teeth marks on the ends if the are worn they will not. you can view your schematic and manual on sears.com/parts with your model number i used 11024032 and it will offer you a few different models to choose from click them and you can view the pictures and also download the manual and use the troubleshooting guide

GE washer won't agitate

I had this same problem with our GE top load washer.  I just needed to pull harder.  (Note: The agitator is held in place by about a dozen L-shaped clips in a ring around the agitator's base that will release more as you pull harder on the agitator.)  Everything from the base below the large fins on up comes out together.  Grab the shaft above the fins and pull slowly and hard. I had to take the entire tub out, lay it on the porch, put my feet inside of it, and pull the agitator assembly out.  I wasn't able to pull it out while it was still in the washer.  BE CAREFUL! DON'T **** IT OUT; that might injure your back; just pull out slowly and as hard as you can without hurting yourself.  I was able to get it out successfully, but I am currently stuck at removing the bell below the agitator.  Good luck!
