Vista not detecting monitors connected to the VGA port

I have a HP Pavilion slimline computer. Running Vista Home.
It has the SSIS (the white display port), my main monitors is connected to this and works perfectly. However there is also a VGA port, when I try to connect a second monitor to it, Vista doesn't detect it. I'm not too sure if it's a driver issues as even my main monitor can't work on it (it's VGA but uses an adaptor to connect to the SSIS, when I 1st got this computer I tried to connect my main monitor to the VGA port and it didn't work. I've tried a few second monitors, they don't work, the one I have now is a 'gnr TS501'.

Thanks

I guess the VGA port is dead, ?
most old PC had 2 ports, 1 on the card, one on the main chassis rear . if the card GPU vga is present only it works.
if you remove the GPU the main VGA port is live.

I cant see rear of your PC and seeing MATTERS.

the common failures are:
RTC coin cell dead.
HDD bad, (most are this old)
and PSU bad.
in that order.

I have an HP pavilion s5310y slimline. I live in a small home and would like to get a pc monitor that works as a computer monitor. Can I do this with this computer and if so what should I buy that is...

Hi, i've looked up the specifications for that desktop ( the s5310y slimline), and i'd like to let you know that it has a VGA video output on the back. Go to walmart and tell them you need a 'VGA monitor'. Or ask a friend, etc, go on ebay, there are several options.
VGA is getting quite old, and should not be difficult to find. You will also need to purchase a VGA cable to go between the monitor and computer.

My hp pavilion slimline s3020n pc is on but cannot view on the screen it says on the monitor VGA: no input signal

Check the video cable connectors, remove the video connectors and reconnect them again.
Check the monitor input settings make sure the input is set to VGA and not to DVI.
Try a different monitor.

How can I connect my HP Slimline to my hdtv?

It is depending on what type of video input your hd tv is compatible with. The hp pc that u are using has only the default vga port on the motherboard. Have you tried connecting the pc with the hd tv via a vga cable?

Hp pavilion slimline s3100n doesn't display on the monitor. boots fine and fans spin and stuff, it just doesn't recognize its own VGA output. What do i do?

Hi
First, try hooking it up to an external monitor if you have access to one.Unfortunately,we need video to start checking for what may be wrong.
Try the monitor and post back to let me know what happens, and if it shows on the external display we can start looking at potential problems and fixes.

I just hooked up my HP Pavilion 9000 Laptop to my Vizio TV and put the TV on correct setting. It is not working on the TV, any ideas? I went on Display setup and kept trying to connect but it says the...

If your laptop has a VGA port, your Vizio needs to have a VGA port too so you can use a standard VGA monitor cable.

If your laptop has a DVI port, you hook it up to the Vizio using a DVI-to-HDMI cable.

And if your laptop has an HDMI port, you hook it up using a standard HDMI cable.

Hope this helps.

Video projector from a laptop

You can connect the Projector to the VGA Port of the Notebook which is a Blue Port which can be seen at the rear of any desktop computer to which we usually connect the Monitor to.

The VGA Port will have 15 holes on it and should be in Blue colour.

You can locate the VGA Port at the Left side of the Notebook.

Locate the port according to the information available below :

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00726464.pdf

Refer to page number 14 (18 of 32) in the manual.

Once you connect the Projector to this port, hold the FN key and press F4 key once.

This wil get the Display on the Projector connected to the Notebook.

If you just want the display only on the Projector, hold the FN key and press the F4 again.

Now, if you want the display back on the LCD of the Notebook, Press the FN + F4 third time.

Hope this helps..
