Hope this assists - someone asked the same type of question - here's the answer to getting the PC to recognize the G1 via USB -

I had the same issue, however what I DID notice up on top was a USB Connected - the USB icon. I pulled that notification up and it asked me to connect. The exacts are:

1. Plug the USB cable into the computer
2. Plug the USB cable into the phone
3. The notification up top corner left will say "USB Connected" with a USB notification icon - BRIEFLY. The text "USB Connected" will quickly disappear, but the icon is still in the left corner.
4. Pull down the notification andyou'll see "USB Connected - Select to copy files to/from your computer" - Select that notification
5. Notification "USB Connected - You have connected your phone to your computer via USB. Select "Mount" if you want to copy files between your computer and your phone's SD Card." - Select the option "Mount".
6. The "Removable Disk" notification should pop up asking you what you want to do. I select "Open folder to view files".

There is a music folder in there, or whatever else you'd like.

This happened to me, I too mounted the phone to the computer by dropping down the notifications at the top but it still didn't fix my problem, the problem was solved when I connected the phone to the 2.0 (high speed USB port) on the back of my computer, the regular usb port on the front of my computer did not support it.

Music

sure. just connect your usb wire the big end to your computer the small end to the phone. then a moment later a notification at the top of your screen appears saying usb connected. then drag that notification menu down and tap the usb connected notification to bring up an option to mount or not mount. choose mount. now on your computer open my computer where you see c drive and d drive. look for removable disk. then click on it and you'll see some folders open the audio or music folder and leave it open. open my computer again this time look for the folder where you keep your music. now when you get there drag music files from you music folder to your g1 audio. it will copy it to your g1 and once you are done unmount your g1 and bring up your music and your new files shoul be in there.

How to download mp3 files from pc to mobile . i have connect the phone (lg ke970 shine ) via usb data lead the computor (dell inspiron1545 vista ) recognized the device i then went to synch file , which...

As far as I am aware when you sync a mobile to pc all you are doing is copying names and addresses and numbers from mobile to pc and vise versa, you are not transfering mp3s or anything else as such, for this you have to use the LG Suite software that came with your mobile or simply drag and drop the files to the sd card that you have in the mobile, obviously you have to be able to use the sd card in a laptop or pc card reader to do this and not the data cable that you use that came with the mobile. The drag and drop method is far easier, well I think so.

My g1 keeps saving my music to the phone and not the sd card

this may help you get around your problem

1. Make sure the microSD card is inserted in the phone.

2. Plug the phone into the USB slot on your computer using the G1 USB cable.

3. Watch the notification bar at the top of the G1 main screen. After the computer connects on the USB port, you will see a small USB icon appear on the notification bar.

4. Drag the notification bar down and select the USB connection notification. A popup will appear asking you if you want to mount the microSD card on the computer. Select "mount." After a second, the PC should detect the card.

5. You can now copy files to and from the card like any other USB storage device.

When you're finished, open the Music app, and select the Songs icon and you should see all your music files listed. The phone will read the files and sort them by album name and artist name as well.

How To Download Music To My G1

Well, after you press mount the SD card should show up on your computer as a drive. If you get confused about which drive it is, open 'my computer' or just 'computer' on vista, and then attach your phone. The drive which appears will be the SD card. Then you can copy and paste any files such as music and pictures into that drive.

How to add music to my g1

(1) Plub usb cable into G1 and computer. You should get a usb icon in the notification area of the G1; (2) Pull down the notification with your finger; (3) Select "Usb Connected" message; (4) Select "Mount" ; (4) On your computer, right click "Start", then click "Explore"; (5) Select the song(s) from where you keep your music, and select "copy"; (6) Go back to the left folders pane and click on the drive labelled "Removable Disk"; (7) Open the Music Folder; (8) then paste the songs there.

There are other ways to get from the computer to the G1, but this is the one I use. Hope that helps.

Downloading photos from G1 phone to laptop

At the top of your phone display you will see a USB icon. Click on the top of the screen and mount the memory card. Your computer will recognize your memory card as a disk drive.

Click on my computer and select the letter for the memory card. Look for the photo folder.

T-Mobile is doing an over the air upgrade to fix some syncing problems this week.

Contact 611 from your cell phone and select G1 support for more information.

How do you download photos from G1 to laptop?

Step 1: Plug in your USB cable to your G1 T-mobile phone as well as the computer.
Step 2: On your G1 T-mobile phone you will see a small icon at the top of the screen that symbols the USB.
Step 3: Pull down the notification window down and click on USB Connection.
Step 4: Automatically on your laptop computer or just computer a window will pop up giving you the option of importing pictures and copying them or just viewing them.

These steps are the correct steps.....T-mobile G1 technical support has not yet modify these steps or include them on the T-mobile G1 manual.

Can not down load my own music

when you plug the phone into your pc using the USB cable an alert appears at the top of your phone notifying you of the USB connection. Slide the alert open and click on the "USB connected Select to copy files to/from your computer" alert. It gives you the option to mount the drive. Click on "Mount" - once you mount the drive. Open your file browser on your PC and the phone should be mounted as a flash drive. Click on the drive, you should be able to see all of the folders on your SD card including the folder containing your music.
