Very mechanical squeeky squealing NOISE when operating the dryer.  What's wrong? How do I get it to stop (and still dry my clothes)?

replace the belt or the idler pulley?

  • bartomus Dec 18, 2008

OK. Is there a schematic? Looks like the top comes apart and definitely the back but the noise is coming from the front behind where the door catch engages. (Between "10-11 o'clock") Is that where the idler pulley is?

    Drum squeaks at each revolution

Same prpblem here. I took top off and I think the felt that the drum rides on in the front is torn. I need a part number and place to order.

The dryer squeals when in use. Could it be a bearing? Need disassemble instructions also.

Dryer's have a long belt that runs around the drum. a common culprit is an idler pulley on the belt tensioner. you can take off the front of the dryer and oil it for a temp fix. it will probably need to be replaced

replace the pulley, belt if it looks worn or cracked

How to change output vent from side to bottom on my Fisher paykel de05-us2 dryer

It should be able to be accomplished by using an adjustable 90 degree elbow you can buy at a local HomeDepot or Lowes. The elbow should be 4" four piece adjustable ell. The radius of the ell should match perfectly with the knockout on the bottom when slipped over the discharge opening of the dryer.

Really Bad Squeeky Noise

It could be a squeal from the dryer belt. It could be from a belt that has gotten loose, like you hear on a car sometimes when it first starts up, but usually they don't get loose. They just break. Maybe something has gotten jammed between the dryer drum and the interior of the dryer making it hard for the belt to turn the drum and so it is squealing. Does the drum turn by hand without too much force and without squealing?

Dryer makes squealing noise when running. What's wrong?

the idler or tensioner wheel that your belt rides on has a bearing in the center of it. This bearing is going out causing the high pitched squeal your hearing

The dryer is squeaking/squealing during operation. It is a high-pitched noise that is rather loud. It is also getting very hot. We vacuumed the lint bucket area behind the cover, which fixed the...

I am having a similar issue. I had a tech out to look at it and he recommended replacing the drum bearing and idler jockey pulley. ($419.95) Ouch. I am going to do this on my own. I ordered the part from paykelfisherparts.net. Part # 479332 Drum Bearing Kit $79.91.

Check here for more info. This was exactly what I found on my machine (DGGX1) http://fisherpaykelparts.net/techhelp/fisher-paykel-top-load-dryers-us-models/731-fisher-paykel-dggx1-top-load-dryer.html

I did not totally trust the repair dude. He was wierd and not very thorough. I can tell the bearing is bad, if there are still noises I will order up the jockey pully thing and see if I can figure that out.

Here is a link to the service manual. (https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B5If-wTgYWH5OGNkY2RmZDEtMWU4OS00MjgwLTg3OWEtMmRlZjY0N2I5MzYy&hl=en)

Get a new repairman, pretty sure there is a drive belt. The squealing may be caused by bad rollers. The drum rides on rollers, they look like rollerblade wheels. If one of those has gone bad, it will cause the squealing noise.
