SOURCE: Frigidaire 12000 BTU A/C window unit

The reason that it's doing that is b/c at first its running only with the fan butwhen the compressor clicks on it trips the breaker if you have other items running off that circuit "unplug them" [even turned off items can still consume some power]. Then try to running only the ac unit see if it works a 12000btu takes a lot to run, if this doesn't work the ac may be to much for your circuit to handle and a smaller unit may be needed.

SOURCE: A/C UNIT FANS BLOWS NO COLD AIR COMPRESSOR KICKS ON THEN OFF

check fins in the condenser coils (the fins on the outside part) for obstructions or alot of bent fins. should be free and clear. but chances are the freon level is low. can be serviced, but may be cheaper to replace.

SOURCE: My Frigidaire FAX050S7A window mount a/c unit

Hi,
Yes they can leak and will need a recharge....just check first that the leak is very small or can be fixed before spending the money to recharge it...with the low cost of window A/C units you can easily get a repair bill for more then a new one would cost...

What causes compressor to work fine then shut down and not come back on for an extended amount of time?

Sometimes these AC's need to be removed and given a damm good cleaning with a spray hose, and any filters replaced. Clean the internal fan(s).
This can sometimes fix overharting of the compressor or misleading air temp sensing..

Upright Freezer won't Cool

Hi - Typically freezers are not recommended to be located outside because if the garage temperature is above 100 degrees, it will have difficulties performing optimally due to un-circulating air. Some manufacturers have garage kit design to help with this issue. It is design to solely be used during the winter to provide heat to the coils which trigger the compressor to come on. During the summer months, generally it is not needed.

When was the last time you cleaned the condensers? You may do so by removing the toe grille and use extended vacuum attachment and condenser cleaning brush to remove dust buildup from condenser coils usually located on the left side underneath. If you hear the compressor running and if it is providing warm air then that means it is operating correctly and the sealed system is removing heat from the cabinet. Fan motor/evaporator may be the primary issue. However, if you do not hear the compressor and the unit is blowing room temperature then the unit may possibly have a sealed system leak, faulty compressor or overload relay. Contact a professional to move forward accurately from this point.

Our window air conditioner compressor kicks on for approx. 2 minutes then off 2 minutes and so on. What could be the problem?

Clean both coils, slide it out of the case, and use a garden hose out side, and a solid stream of water don't damage the fins with to much water pressure, and clean the **** out of it, keeping water out of any other areas. If you can keep the water just to the coils, you can put it back in the case and, rock and roll.

The compressor will not kick on i took the cover off and the compressor is hot will it reset it self or is there a reset button on it somewhere it was running fine just 1 hour ago any suggestions

it has an overload on the compressor that has kicked the compressor out and will not let it start back up,,,let it cool for a bit then try again it will reset it's self,,,,, make sure that both sets of coils on this unit are clean....you see the condensor coils when your on the roof with the cover off... check the inside evaporator coils as well..... let me know what you find out......

Unit does not cool. Original unit was replaced because of defective compressor. Replacement unit worked in store but now does not cool and alternates blowing cool and warm air.

Is this a window unit? Sounds like the compressor may be cutting on and off. That would cause the alternating air temp you are feeling. Make sure the condenser fan is running. If it isn't running head pressure will build up on the compressor until it shuts down. Then the pressure will equalize and the compressor will kick on again. Also check your filters and the condenser coil to make sure it is clean. Let me know what you find.

A/c unit is not blowing cool air. I took it apart and cleaned all the coils, but it still is not cool. There is also a sound like something is trying to kick on but it just kicks right back off.

sounds like the compressor is having trouble starting. this could be the start components or the compressor itself. if the fan is running when you hear the "kicking in" noise it is you compressor, they are generally PSC motors, that require a capacitor to start, the capacitor could be bad, or the compressor may need a start kit added to it, they are available to the public at most appliance parts houses, you will need the model and serial number of the unit to select the proper one.
