Acer 1716 17 inch LCD monitor, screen fuzzy w/white lines at rt

I have an Acer 1716 17 inch LCD monitor that was working perfectly a couple of days ago. I was working online, went to get a cup of coffee and when I came back the screen had gone fuzzy with white horizontal lines along the right side. I can still see all the Desktop Icons and mouse cursor seems to work fine, and I can open programs, etc., also brightness seems ok. I turned on a small space heater to warm the area under the desk 5 minutes prior to the screen going fuzzy so I thought maybe EMI had affected the computer. I hooked up the monitor to my laptop and same result. I don't have an extra cable to try, so if it is the cable it gave me the same results with the laptop. Manufacture date is Nov. 2005. I opened it up and looked for dry solder joints, bad capacitors, but only see what looks like the larger (power board ?) has gotten hot around diode d803 and diode zd802 and capacitor c803. I hope you can help, Thanks.

Common problem.
There are 8 small VRAM BGA chips.
1 or 2 of them needs REFLOW.
Basically board service.

Power 740nw

seems like a very old monitor.
old things do that, they die , get weak, or just ugly.
this is called entropy.
if the screen or the screen line drivers are bad.
the fix is way more than a new monitor.
get viewsonic. get the VA2246M-LED OR BIGGER.
crisp perfect whites, and perfect colors... check it out.
nice price drop , reciently.....

Vetical lines on monitor

The LCD panel if failing, you will get more line as time goes by due to bad LCD t-con board (part of LCD panel). Nothing you can do but replacing the LCD panel.

Vertical white line near the left end of the screen.

Usually when there are colored lines on the LCD its because the screen is going bad. Quick way to verify this, try a different monitor on your computer and if the line goes away then you know for sure the monitor is bad.

If you try a different monitor and the line remains then you know that the video card is bad.

Dell Inspiron Screen Shake

sorry, can't tell you "no cost fix".

Either you've got a motherboard-screen cable failure(harsh, but not too bad) or you're
video card is fritzing. The green/grey line usually indicated a line break in a data line of the monitor cable. The fuzzy shaking is an indication that one of the sync signals may also be compromised.

To eliminate the video card as the problem... plug a monitor into the external video port, and see if the error is ghosted there.

If this doesn't work, Dell actually has some pretty good tools for you to use in troubleshooting it for yourself. The troubleshooter page begins here. There is a good video of using dell's built-in-to-laptops LCD screen test utility here.

Hope it helps you.

White screen appears, Screen turns fuzzy intermittently

To determine if the video card is faulty or the LCD screen, connect an external monitor to the laptop. Power up the monitor first and then the laptop. The video will automatically switch to the monitor. If you see a normal Windows image the the video card os OK.
The next thing is to reseat the video cable and if this doesn't fix the problem then the fault is the LCD screen.

Monitor lcd acer al2016w 20" letters and image are fuzzy,,why?

I also have an Asrock motherboard (M266A) and have the AL2216W. The image and text is also fuzzy. I did improve it a by by unplugging/replugging all of the connectors on the back of the computer. I believe my mouse had a somewhat loose connection and this was causing interference. I can actually create interference on screen by moving my mouse up and down.
These Acer monitors seem to be very sensitive. I also tried this monitor on a old Desktop with Win98 and another new laptop with XP and it looks good on those computers, but not on my Asrock based system.
