T5048 dell has three wires from switch to motherboard ALL is good but WHERE do they attach??? Green,Red and Black... Please Help!!!

Maybe an extra lead that ran up to ceiling box. Sometimes electricians run three wire for extra functions like ceiling fan / light combos.

Four-Wire: Green

The green wire is the ground wire, and it is the difference between a three-wire and a four-wire cord. (In the three-wire system, the ground wire and the neutral wire are the same.) The green wire connects to the dryer frame. Look at the cord-connection terminals on the back of the dryer. Very close by, you should see a screw sticking out of the metal panel. It will be labeled "external ground connector" or something similar. Connect the green wire to that screw.

Four-Wire: Black

Most appliances in your house run on 120 volts of electricity, some on 240 volts. The dryer needs both--240 volts to run the drum and heating element, and 120 volts to run the timer, thermostat and other components. For this reason, the dryer cord has two live or "hot" wires--one black, one red--rather than a single hot wire. The dryer draws 120 volts from each hot wire to get the 240 volts it needs for the heavy work, then pairs one hot wire with the neutral wire for the 120 volts to run the smaller functions. Look again at the connection terminals on the back of the dryer. There should be three screws in a horizontal row. Connect the black hot wire to the terminal on the left.

Four-Wire: Red

Connect the other hot wire, the red wire, to the terminal on the right. (In truth, you could connect either hot wire to either hot terminal, but it's standard procedure to put the black on the left and the red on the right, so do so.)

Four-Wire: White

The white is the neutral wire, and it connects to the center terminal. There may be a metal strap attached to this terminal. That's a ground strap. When a three-wire cord is attached, it serves the same function as the ground screw mentioned above.

Three-Wire: Gray

If you have a three-wire cord, then all three wires will be gray. They're arranged side-by-side with the hot wires on the outside and the neutral wire in the middle. Attach the hot wires to the left and right terminals and the neutral wire to the center terminal. Make sure the ground strap is attached to the center terminal.

with a three way switch like this, you will have two traveller wires and a common wire. Look in the instructions for the switch or on the back of the device itself to see if there is a wire labeled "common" or "com". This common wire from the old switch hooks up to the common wire on the new switch. I did a bit of searching on the leviton 6602, but couldn't find anything specifically about the three way version (I would venture to guess, however, that the red wire on the old switch is the common). The common on one of the three way switches will always be a constant hot (or power) wire...the common on the other three way switch will be the "switch leg" or the wire that connects directly to the light. The two travellers go to the other two wires. Check the pamplet that came with the lutron device, it should show which wire is common and which are travellers.

Sounds like this was probably a three-way switch you are replacing as there is no neutral (white) wire in the box. If so, you can splice the white wire to the green wire in other three-way switch box; then hook the green wire in the box you are placing the timer to the white wire of the Utilitech timer.

There is no universal convention on the color coding of wires for three-way switches, other than green always being ground. Fortunately if you wire it wrong you won't hurt anything, it just won't work right. Two wires are "travelers", they run between one three-way switch and the other. The "travelers" were attached to opposite sides of one end of your old switch. From your description, one is red and one is black. (These two wires are interchangeable, except that in one position both toggles up or both down would ON. In the other position one toggle up and the other down would be ON.) The "third wire" was attached to the other end of the old switch and is black. If you can't tell by just looking at it which lead of the new switch is alone at one end of the new switch (and is therefore mate for the "third wire"), you can just try the combinations. Assuming you still know which black wire is your "third wire" there will only be 3 combos.

The correct way is actually as such...Green (ground) to the frame/chassis. Red, white, then black. See the image I attached for a reference.

your terminal block on the dryer will have three screws in a row and there will be a green screw on the outer skin next to the terminal block cover - your four-wire cord will have a white wire, red, black and green wires - white wire goes on the center screw of the terminal block, red wire goes on one of the other screws of the terminal block, it doesn't matter which, black wire goes on remaining terminal block screw, green wire goes to the green screw

i have no mother board cd then system is formatting is not possible please help me i want drivers cd
