Same problem with power button stuck in "on" position. Seems like a spring or something may have broke. Do I need to throw it away or will Norelco offer some sort of remedy for its customers?

what if your product is not under warranty still?

  • Anonymous Dec 24, 2008

does anybody know how to disassemble the bodygroom properly? It is all plastic snaps that can break easily so I don't want to use force.

The exact same thing happened to mine which is why I am searching the forums. Anyone with any luck?

Button got stuck after half-a-years' use. Got a new one from warranty which also broke after 6 months of use.

OK, I am incredibly impatient, so I just figured out how to disassemble the bodygroom on my own. The button issue is fixed quite easily as there is no spring.

To disassemble, I simply removed the silver/gray side plates. Then put an instrument in the blue hole and torqued it a bit and the fittings popped out of place and the top released. I recommend using some sort of plastic tool so as not to mar up the casing. Then, the guts are fairly straightforward. The button is just a piece of rubber with a rubber knob on the bottom. When you push it, it simply pushes a really small button on the motor. When it gets stuck, I am guessing the rubber knob has somehow gotten stuck next to the motor button. After you take off the top cover of the motor, the button should be back to where it is supposed to be. Just put everything back together in reverse order.

That fixed mine! Good luck!

Thanks a lot you saved me from breaking all the plastic parts cause I'm also very impatient xD your post-guide came with first search and that was seconds before i start breaking it apart on my own!! I found the device working just when I came home, it was fully charged and the neighbour made fun of some ''vibrating'' noise coming out of my home while i was unlocking the door looooooool

Excellent! After reading this I had my problem fixed in less than 10 minutes. Disassembly was as you described and then using the bit of knowledge further down that says it's a vacuum problem in the switch, I found a little rubber tab just below the switch that looked pretty liftable, so I pulled it out, there was a little pop and the switch was back to looking/working normally. I reseated the tab and reassembled the shaver and I just saved a buncha bucks. Thanks!

Thanks to Dallas2008 on how to open the device.

  • Anonymous Aug 19, 2010

I found out that my button was stuck because of the air pressure. I heard the sound of the air coming in the inside unit as soon as I opened it. The rubber thing on top of the button pop out instantly.

Conclusion, the lower pressure inside the unit "pulled" the rubber against the button therefore creating the problem (I couldn't stop it anymore...)

So I could have solved my problem by taking the smallest needle I could find and pierce a little hole in the rubber to release the pressure. Then I would have filled the hole with some kind of glue (water getting inside is not an option here...) and the problem would have been solved without even opening the device.

No need to do that, better remove the outer casing as per the instructions of dallas2008 and then just fiddle the hinges of the internal water proof casing a bit to allow the air back in so that the button can come back to its original position.

I contacted Norelco customer service and they said there is a 2 year warranty on the unit. They are sending me a new unit and asked that I return the old one to them once the new one arrives. They were very helpful and extremely pleasant.

I took it apart (per Dallas2008's instructions) and then I put some electrical tape on the underside of the rubber button. Hopefully this will prevent the button from sticking to the small mechanical button.

I've owned 2 Bodygroom shavers and had problems with the buttons on both. The first went bad shortly after Christmas when I had a gift card to a local store and just replaced it. I had the same problem twice now with this one, the first time it may have just been stuck.

The second time, the tiny button inside broke right off. I was able to very carefully solder it back on, but I'm not sure how long it will last.

The button is fairly easy to access, dallas2008 provided decent instructions to get at the shaver mechanism. Just be careful with the clips on the bottom of the shaver, they seem to break easily. Once you remove the casing, the shaver mechanism should come right out, and you will just have to release a few more clips to open the inner case to get at the electronics.

This shaver is supposed to be waterproof (though I've never tested that claim), but I wouldn't recommend using it in the shower after disassembling the interior shaver mechanism.

I would recommend being VERY VERY gentle with the button on your shaver or you are very likely to have the same problem as it is a design defect that will likely never be fixed. Quite a shame really, besides this not-so-little issue, it's a really nice shaver.

I have acquired a bulk lot of the Bodygroom razors. Most are new in boxes but a few have obviously been opened and of the opened ones a few of them have some sort of damage to the thin foil shield that covers the cutting head. I have removed the heads from the ones with damaged foils. I can get new heads for around 10 to 12 dollars, but would prefer to just sell off the bodies.

For $10 I can send you one of the new units. You just have to snap your cutting head out and put it in the new one. These are not the black and blue ones but the newer two tone sliver and gray models.

They also come with matching charger stands. The chargers and units are totally compatible with the older units, just a diffrent color on the handle and stand.

For more info see this thread "Phillips-Norelco Bodygroom ( Body Groom BG2022 )" On the Thong Wearers Message Board

Having a whole new unit will solve the button problem without having to open it up and it gets you a fresh unit with a new battery to boot.

Instead of trying to fix it I've found the easiest way to turn it off is to put the unit into the plugged in charger. It turns off as soon as it makes contact.

I followed the instructions of dallas2008. I removed the plastic top casing like he said. But I did not disassemble the interior. The button gets stuck because when you press on it too hard, air escapes the casing but is unable to get back in due to the water tight nature of the inner casing. When you have the inner casing out of the outer plastic casing, just fiddle with the hinges in the corners, this will allow some air to enter back into the casing, allowing the button to come back to its original position. Better not to open the water tight internal casing because then it might not remain water tight any more. Good Luck.

52mm lens stuck on body,,how do you unstick it?

Normally, these lenses do not 'unscrew'. When you push the red button, it releases the lens catch and then you rotate the lens a short ways counterclockwise, then gently pull forward on the lens while holding the body of the camera and the two units separate. It is possible you have gotten some dirt into the lens latching mechanism. Try returning the lens to the locked position, press the red button, rotate the lens to where it stops and then returning the lens to the locked position and repeat several times if the lens does not lift out when you hit the movement stop. This may allow you to get past the dirt. Otherwise, take it to a camera shop, particularly if the camera is still under Canon warranty.

Stuck record button

You can find plenty of YouTube videos about taking cameras apart, if you want to clean out the button area yourself.
Here are links to some

Meanwhile, you would probably do well to send it to a Canon service center or a reputable camera shop for cleaning by people with experience in taking it apart and putting it back together.

I had a Bodygroom and had to replace it because the power button got stuck and wouldn't turn on. The new one was fine for a while but did the same thing. I have noticed that after a while it will work...

Same thing happened to me so I took the thing apart and that's all it took. The compartment that contains the battery and chip had a vacuum built up that prevented the button from being depressed. Once I opened it and released the pressure the switch worked again.

Can the arm of the jet clean system be retracted into base for travel or storage

Yes, after you push the start button on the unit, pull the plug out of the wall socket when the arm gets to its bottom position. It will stop at this lowered position. When you plug it in again, it will go back to its upright position. Norelco ships the new cleaning units in this contracted position. When you plug it in presto! You are ready to go.

Power button stuck in on position on my dell 2408wfp

Dear User,

The front buttons on the plastic body of your device, are meant for just 'Touch Type Operations'. They may result in malfunction, if used forcefully.
As in your case, it is stuck in it's position. Now you may try to take it out by slightly beating the outer front near the button ("Slightly"). or you can use anything with sharp tip as a needle to get the button out from its position.

If everything else fails, you need to get it to the nearest repair center. As it needs to be unscrewed.

Thanks
