Even with out the display, can you ping it from the network? If not I would power off the server. Unplug the power. Take the cover off the server, reseat the memory. Pullout the both power supplies and reseat them. remove any cards in the server except the disk controller. Reseat all the disk drives, make sure you put them in the same slot you pulled them from, even though it doesnt matter. Plug back in and see if you get a display. You can move the memory around also or take out some. If you are not getting an intermittent beep or a red display on the front panel, your system board may be shot.

SOURCE: HP DL380 G4 Video resolution

To increase the resolution on a DL380 G4 try this.
So here is what I have done.
- Download x64.zip file from ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/driver/VGA/ATI/RageXL/x64.zip
- Run/Expand the zip to same directory
- DO NOT run the setup file or you will get the error message,
"Setup will only run in Administrator mode. Setup is aborting"
- Launch Device Mgr
- Expand the Video Driver and update Standard Video Drive. Point to directory x64.
- The server will need to reboot
- Display settings can be raised from 1024x786(16bit) to 1280x1024(32bit)
Note: 1600x1200 (16bit) is available but does not work on mine. If you set it to this setting and the video does not come back, connect up a higher resolution monitor and set it back.

HP Compaq ProLiant DL380 G2 Server won't boot from cdrom

Hello, I think you might find more information on starting up the DL380 G2 at the link shown below:
http://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00972124

Also, the replacement instructions, in case it needs to be replaced, (and relevant troubleshooting info) for the 5i controller are found in the link here :http://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=316587&docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c00688182

Please first make sure that you are using the proper startup boot disk for the server before entering the CD ROM option from the boot menu. Also, check the front panel of the SCSI drives for any errors or blinking LEDS that correspond to an error code. You can run a diagnostics CD/DVD that arrived with the manufacturer's pack to detect any raid issues on startup.

If you are still facing difficulties with booting up the server, you can find a video for replacement of the appropriate scsi drive here if you are still facing any issues of your scsi drive. Try a different hard disk or check the relevant diagnostics to verify whether is the controller or the drive that complicates the booting of the server

For more details check the scsi manual in the link below (section "FBWC LEDs" , pages 15-17).

I have HP PROLIANT DL 380 (G4). I removed hard disk. Its start and few seconds restart again. its happening continuously. Any solution.

need to provide moreinfo.
is the server (prolaint DL380) constantly rebooting within BIOS mode or has it got to the stage of running windows.
The other item not mentioned here, is, IF the raid controller has failed, you will not see any disks initializing and would cause the system to continually reboot.
If it is an internal raid controller, it is part of the motherboard, you will need to contact HP to have it replaced.

If an pci related array controller .. i.e. separate to the motherboard, this will need to be replaced to see the HDD's.
Either way sounds like a hardware issue. Best to liaise directly with vendor to have the faulty components replaced.

HP DL380, drive 1 and 2 lights are not on, but 3 is. Can I swap new drives in those spots and it write automaticaly. Or is there and easy fix, I checked cables and connections, reset hardrives and powered...

Boot from HP Diagnostic Media (SmartStart CD)and check the status of Array.....or harddrives...
If showing any failed status or not supported..
Replace drives to check if new drives show status...
It could be because of Drives not intialise for Array..

Boot to Array Configuration Utility...during bootup and go to Intialise disks....
Use them

Drive array problem

Hi Nick ,

As of now you can Select "F2" to accept data loss and re-enable logical drive. This Load OS Normally .
It seems that one of the HDD in the RAID 5 has failed , Did you notice any LED indications like red or amber on the HDDs ?? if so get that hdd replaced . Make sure the Failed HDD is replaced .
You can run the Array Diagnostic Utility from HP System tools to check the Failed Drives and also frimware version of the controller . If the frimware is not latest Update it from HP website. DL380 G4 should have Smart Array 6i controller .

Hope This was Helpful
cheers :)
