My 787 receiver is 10 years old. It worked excellent all these years . It developed distorted sound in the front left channel. I swapped speakers and confirmed that the problem is with the receiver front...

The problem will be in the power amp for the the left channel. One you have identified this on the circuit board you can compare the channel with the right. As they are both the same. Start with a visual check. If anything looks odd compared with the the right replace it. Distortions are often caused by a burned resistor. Though the main power transistors or IC can cause it too. If you can't find anything visual I would replace the main output device(s) for the left channel.

Tv picture is distorted

If the picture is the only thing distorted meaning audio sounds good and clear. It would be the connects between ur tv and reciever.

Right channel sound is distorted

You most likely should remove the casing of your reciever and take a can of compressed air to clean it out start with that and also while you hvae it open look for any solder that looks messy or melted

if front left is working it is possible u have a dry solder on ur right channel line. try resoldering or if u want to know exactly where dry solder is, shake gently every right channel components and connections. if resoldering does not work it is possible u have a faulty ouput amp for ur right channel. if ur not sure about this i suggest u get it checked by a qualified tech.

Left front channel has stopped working

if you are sure you swapped speakers and its still the same, get a refund the unit is bad.

Distorted right channel

There is a problem in the pre-amp section of the receiver. This is most likely a bad transistor. FIgure on about $5-$15 for parts for this repair.

Center speaker

I had the exact same problem. In order to "almost" balance the center with the other channels I had to give the center +12db gain and the other channels -12db. So after I got that far with level calibration I tried some tv sound, well the center although was playing sounded like the highs were missing and a bit distorted. This is the good part, I turned the volume all the way up real fast, somewhere near max something fixed itself, the center became very loud. Now it works just like new. Hope this helps. BTW, the problem existed the same for sub channel, so when the center started working so did the sub.

Distorted sound on all right channel inputs

yep but if your not a tech you should take this easy repair to a pro. Your problem is an open emitter resitor and happens when the units over driven or a speaker is bad for a while while it was working. if your a tech then check all of the emmitter resistors. also it could be a bad output device. Good Luck
