My elliptical trainer is starting to squeak. What should I do?

Locate the site of the sqeak. Then spray WD40 or similar spray lubricant thoroughly in and around the screws in that area using the straw attachment. I did just that and it took care of the problem.

My Precor EFX 546 elliptical trainer began squeaking when my weight was on the pedals. I thoroughly cleaned the track and wheels with Windex and then used my finger to apply a thin coat of teflon based lubricant (Tri-Flow brand) to the outer surface of the wheels. After 2 applications of lubricant, the squeaking has been eliminated completely. Hope this helps!

Elliptical machines with bearings at the pivot points will ultimately be more reliable and durable than those with bushings. Bushings will squeak and over time they will break down. You should look for a machine with sealed ball bearings. They are protected from dirt and do not require lubrication.

Quite the opposite. Elliptical trainers are great for people with knee injuries. Elliptical trainers limit the strain on your knees because it is a non-impact machine.

You could try lubricating the moving parts. Sometimes the bearings and the connecting parts can become dry. If lubing does not work, it may simply be time to replace a bearing or bushing.

Tip it over - there was a version that had a problem with the frame cracking where the ramp attaches. There is a kit to fix this, if that is what you find.
