Got it at Christmas. Was working fine until it would not play the pictures we have taken. I realized that its not just that but basically the func button and all the others around it won't respond. Is this hardware issue and I need to return the camera or did I turn something off? Is this fixable? Seems like it is still taking pictures but I can't tell since I can't view them and I can't change any of the settings.

Having read on a few sites about loose ribbon wires causing problems and having this same problem. I decide to take the camera apart. Taking all the screws out and fidling with the "wires" connecting the zoom control and the photo type selector and the main circ board. I also cleaned the connector from the picture type selector. Then put it all back together the camera works fine again. NOTES... lots of small screws with varying lengths make sure you know where they come from. Took about 1 hour to do.Put back in the order you take apart or the back will not go back on.. Good luck have just saved myself a fortune

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. You may fix it, but it will pop up again some day. Camera/cable interface problems are notorious. But why put up with the headache of these software problems? Please see the following post, as it outlines a much easier, faster, and less error prone alternative way to download your photos:

You have a bad button board . This is a single board with a series of small button switches that control all these functions. Most repair shop will charge around 75.00 to fix.
