I have a phono preamp, but am not sure where to plug it in to the receiver. I also am having trouble getting my TV sound to go through the receiver and out of my speakers. I have the TV connected to the receiver with an HDMI cable and two front bookshelf speakers connected to the receiver via banana plugs. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Your receiver is perfectly useable with a phono preamp, dedicated to that purpose. While it's true, most manufactures have done away with phono inputs, as well as the phono preamp inside, these aftermarket preamps were made for exactly this situation. As said above, use the red and white cables coming from your turntable and plug them into the input of the preamp. The output of the preamp goes into any analog input of your receiver. BE SURE to change the input of whatever jacks you're plug in into, through the assignment of that input, to analog. You can look up the procedure in your owner's manual, or online.
The preamp is designed to 1. increase the gain(output) of the magnetic cartridge to an aux input level and 2. provide the RIAA equalization needed to properly correct the equalization, to that of a turntable, which is different that any other input you have available.

On looking at Page 26 of the manual, that is verified. (See the Notes). Use only the analog audio and it will probably work for you. The A/D switch decides which you will use.
