My shared printer will only print a test page and nothing else!

I just set up a new Dell computer (WinXP) and had to re-share a HP Laserjet 1022n printer. Now when I try to print to the shared printer from another computer it will not print my document. I can only get it to print a test page so I know it's communicating with the printer. I have tried to print from Word, email, nothing else prints. No error messages just nothing comes out of the printer and the job is not sitting in the print que. I have deleted the printer and have reconnected to it through our network and I am sure that print sharing is on and the printer is shared. I have this one printer shared out to two other computers and it's happening on both so I am overlooking something. Help!

When you say 're-share' do you mean you had it configured previously on another machine? Also have you re-installed the printer on the network machines or changed the port ie: //PCName/PrinterName as this could be different now with the new setup. Also check that the users have been granted access to the machine connected to the printer.

Hi phall124
Have you made the new connected printer on 2 other PC's the default printer. Try selecting the printer in word by not just clicking on printer icon but using the following:
1.File
2.Print
3.Select printer from drop down box
4.Print

Hi,
If you're trying to connect to another computer, make sure that computer is on, that you have enabled file and printer sharing on both computers, and that file and printer sharing can communicate through your firewall.

My Hp Photosmart C5820 all in one printer is connected to my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop (Windows XP). How do I share this printer wirelessly with my new Dell laptop (Windows 7)?

Any printer that isconnected to a computer and is connected on a LAN can be configured so allother computers on the same network can print to this printer. This means thecomputer with the printer attached to it MUST be booted up at all times whenother computers want to access the printer. You need to install theprinter driver on the computer and configure it as a Shared printer. The other computers on thenetwork need to add this printer to their computer. Follow these steps toset-up a shared network printer :- 1. Connect the printer tothe computer and install the printer driver. 2. Open Printers and Faxes- right click on this printer and click Sharing - click Sharing tab and click Share this printer, and then if you wish you could change theShare name, then click OK 3. Right click on theprinter - click Properties - click Print Test Page to confirm printerinstallation.
Follow these steps toconfigure the computers on your network :- 1. Open Printers and Faxes- click Add a printer - Next - select a network printer, or a printer attached to another computer - Next. 2. Select Browser for aprinter - Next 3. Click on and expand theMicrosoft Windows Network down to the computer with the printer - Next 4. Select Yes for - Usethis printer as the default printer - Next - Finish 5. Right click on theprinter - click Properties - click Print Test Page to confirm printerinstallation. b>

Hi, I rested my HP 1022n Printer, now with old IP address its not printing, how can get my printer new IP address ? and please tell me how can take Test report of same printer, i tried pressing Green(go)...

Every network printer or print server has a unique IP address associated with it. This address is either configured manually or set using an automatic network protocol such as the boot protocol, reverse address resolution protocol or zeroconf. You can normally find the IP address of a printer on the printer's control panel or by printing the configuration page. Select the printers and faxes tab from the control panel. Right click on the printer those you want to find the IP address and click properties. Then click on the ports tab to display the IP address of your printer.

How to add NIC in HP color laserjet CP1215 Printer?

If this model HP does not have an expansion slot for a HP Jetdirect Print server, then to use this printer on your network you have two options.
1. Connect the printer to a desktop computer on your network and set it uo as a shared printer. This means this computer and printer needs to be powered up for the other computer on your network to print to the shared printer.
2. Connect the printer to a print server that is connected to your network.

Network Vista Wireless Laptop to XP Desktop & Print Documents

On the desktop machine - go to the printers folder, right click the icon for the Laserjet and choose sharing (enable print sharing). You should be able to name the printer and make it accessible to anyone within the workgroup. If needed you can run the network setup wizard to change the workgroup names on both machines.

On the laptop go to add new printer and choose network printer, you should be able to browse to the desktop machine by name and choose the Laserjet as a printer (whether you want it to be the default is up to you). The laptop will download and install the drivers from the desktop pc to the laptop and set the correct network path automatically.

It goes without saying that the desktop machine must be on in order to print from the laptop in this scenario.

I have to resort to print to pdf and then take the pdf to my xp for printing. Its a half *** solution but if anybody out there made his/her own driver please post.
