My washer is aprox 5 years old and about 2 months ago we noticed it started leaving what look like round rust colored spots on our clothing. Also, the drum seems loose as it sound like an airplane taking off during every spin cycle. What I am wondering is if anyone else has had this problem and if they were able to remove the stains....it's almost as if they are grease/oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,
this is a very common happening and it means
This usually means that a seal is degrading or dissolving.
This washer is a top loader, Right!
I believe it calls for HE ( High Efficient) laundry detergent.
If we use to much of either it will cause this !
This usually happens due to using to much detergent or bleach.
You said, Black oil like residue discharged from washer during use. Stain
clothes, almost impossible to remove. Loosened nut on agitator but it
will not budge, and am afraid of damage if I try to pry between
agitator and bottom of drum.
Please remember to leave a rating before you go!
Thank you

HI! I just posted a question to "justask.com" and am having the exact same problem. I paid $9 for this answer and was happy to pay it because I now know what it is! From what I have been told, it is from the transmission in your washer and will cost at least $400 to fix it (that's just a ballpark figure... I have a Frigidaire and that was the figure I was given). So, basically, it would be more cost effective for you to purchase a new washer.

This washing machine has self-leveling rear legs. Tilt the machine up on the front legs and you'll hear the back legs drop down to re-level itself. Center the basket and restart.
