Vizio TV into Direct TV satellite box...HDMI 1 and onkyo set to CAB/SAT...sound comes thru onkyo. Vizio has dedicated button for Netflix, etc. When I activate netflix, sound continues to play from prior tv channel I was watching thru onkyo and netflix sound comes through tv speaker. In short, when I activate netflix, it doesn't disengage the direct tv satellite and i get overlap sound. Even if I shut the tv audio

This might somewhat help. Today I went back .. I went HDMI out of the Cable box and DVD player into 2 of the TVs HDMI ins. The digital audio out from each, straight to the receiver and things are working ok. All speakers are working OK. Sound isnt as loud or crisp but unfortunately I found no other solution.

easiest fix is to take all hdmi straight to tv. then come out of tv with optical cable to your receiver. that way what ever your watching will automatically be sent to the receiver thru optical. you even will get dolby dig. also you can have audio from your tv when you dont want to use your surround. keeps receiver on one input also.
Vizio HDTV- Lips out of sync
Anyone with a new Vizio E601i-A3 60" or 70" HDTV that is
having audio "Lips out of sync problems" with a cable or satellite box.
On Comcast cable boxes (or others), here's what you need to
do: FIND MENU for AUDIO or HDMI setup on
CABLE BOX or Satellite Box.
FOR COMCAST
1. Turn on TV and have Cable box Turned OFF.
2. Press MENU on COMCAST REMOTE.
3. Go to AUDIO Setting OR HDMI Setting. (On cable or Sat.
BOX)
4. Change setting from Auto to L-PCM. (Turn off cable box to
exit)
This should resolve any "out of sync" lips to picture after
commercials on HD channels.
*This is a handshaking issue from the cable box to the Vizio
