Door lock - controller

Hi There,

Did you ever get an answer for your problem? The door of my washing machine will not open either and I have tried everything. A repair man came to check it out and apparently it is the controller which will cost me $520!! I bought the machine 2 years ago - come on. So I am hoping it might be somehting else....

I have the same problem. Yesterday, we did a load of wash, and now the door is locked. It doesn't seem to be going through the spin cycle. Anyone else figure out how to unlock the door?

Control board sends power to door lock and unlock door. Control Board is most likely the problem. Have you tried unplugging machine for 5 minutes and then plugging back in?

I would recommend getting the service manual for your model as some models have clutches that control spin and others have belts. The service manual would be the best route if you are planning on repairing this yourself. If you would like the service manual let me know and I will post a link to where you can get one emailed to you.

SOURCE: Washing Machine Door won't open

I had the same problem. I went through all the steps on this thread to no avail. Finaly I just pryed the thing open - with no damage, thank goodness.

Once open I saw that the latch in the door didn't move when I pulled the handle. The problem it seems was in the latch on the door itself. If you end up this problem and want to get wet clothes out, just stick a flat-head screwdriver, behind the door latch into the horseshoe-shaped metal bit and lever it open - no prying necessary.

Not sure how I'm going to fix this permantely but at least I got my wet clothes out and can do laundry as long as I keep the screwdriver near by.

To fix - I'll either need to figure out how to disassemble the door and replace the latch mechanism, or just buy a whole new door.

SOURCE: error code F70 on Whirlpool frontload washer WFW9600

Welcome spammailmd

You said, you tried to use the delayed wash last night but when we went to it this morning we had error code F70. There is a small possibility that the door was not closed properly, but we forgot to check. We opened the door, closed it and restarted it on a non-delayed wash and it started just fine. The manual for the washer is not very descriptive with the error codes, it simply says to restart and if that doesn't work call the repair man (what is this a microsoft windows machine?).

Whirlpool codes:
“F” codes other than F20, F21 or F22
Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle. Select
DRAIN/SPIN if there is excessive water in the washer.
Re-select cycle and press START. If the problem remains,
call for service.

Let me know that it works for you or if you have any questions.
Thank You.

I have a du code that will not go off and the door is locked.

The F30 error code (dU) will flash when the dispenser motor cannot be driven to its proper position.

Door Unlock Error

A Door Unlock Error occurs if the door cannot be unlocked.
It will try to unlock the door 6 times before displaying the error.

Door Lock Mechanism broken.
Check Door Lock/Switch Assembly for foreign objects
Check Wire Harness connections to the Door Lock/Switch Assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU)
Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure

If it is a cabrio:
dU flashes if the following conditions occur:
Excessive force on door lid is preventing lock bolt from retracting.
Wash media buildup is preventing lock bolt from retracting.
Machine/motor control cannot determine if door lid is in an unlocked state.

TEST #8 Door Lid Lock
Perform the following checks if washer fails to lock (or unlock).
1. Perform Manual: Door Switch and Manual: Door Lid Lock tests.
2. Remove the console to access the machine/ motor control assembly. See Accessing & Removing the Electronic Assemblies.
3. Visually check that the P12 connector is inserted all the way into the machine/motor control. If visual check passes, go to step 4. If visual check fails, reconnect P4 and repeat step 1.
4. Check the lid lock motor winding and switches by removing P12 from the machine/ motor control and checking the
resistance values....

Component/Resistance Unlocked/Resistance Locked/Contacts Measured/Contacts Measured:

Motor Winding/35 ±5 O/35 ±5 O/P12-2/P12-3/
Lock Switch - Home/0 O/Open Circuit/P12-1/P12-4

Lock Switch - Lid/Lid Closed = 0 OLid Open = Open Circuit/Lid Closed = 0 O Lid Open = Open Circuit/P12-1/P12-5

If resistance values are good, go to step 5. If switch measurements do not match the values shown in the table for unlocked (or locked) conditions, a problem
exists in the door lid lock. Replace the door lid lock.

5. If the Manual: Door Switch or Manual: Door Lid Lock in step 1 failed, then the machine/motor control has failed: Unplug washer or disconnect power.
Replace machine/motor control assembly. Perform the Manual: Door Switch and Manual: Door Lid Lock in step 1 to verify repair.
