SOURCE: Replacing brush roller on my KIrby g6 limited edition

You need a new belt. When the green light goes out, that means your brushroll has stopped spinning. Here's how to change it....

Even if you just replaced the belt, this guide will help you make sure that you got the brushroll back in the right way.

Hope it helps....

SOURCE: Kirby G6 attaching fluffer brush on shampooer

Sure can,

You have two choices,
1.) To use your shampoo attachment, you'll need the fluffer shield, To set up the attachment seperate the tray assembly (the part that holds the roller brush) from the nozzle assembly (the part that attaches to the machine). Now seperate the roller brush from the tray (easiest way is to pull the belt). Insert the roller brush into the fluffer shield (it only goes one way). Insert the fluffer shield with the roller brush installed into the nozzle assembly the plastic shield will be faced towards the front of the machine. Turn belt lifter to where the red arrows match and attach to the front of the machine. Turn belt lifter to where the green arrows match and you should be in business.

2.) Your using the floor buffing attachment it the easiest method just put on like the floor nozzle (thing you vacuum with).

SOURCE: Carbon Brushes wearing out quickly on Kirby Heritage II

4 possible reasons.
1 – one or both bearings are worn so armature (rotating part) wobbles as it is spinning and cause motor brushes to wear fast. Solution – change bearings too.
2 – Whoever replaced brushes – did not use some brush seating sticks to make cmutator smother and contour brushes to the shape of the comutator (not likely). Solution – appropriately install new set of brushes.
3 – Comutator is so warped that seating sticks do not help anymore – solution – new armature or turn the old armature.
4 – The fact that ONLY ONE brush was worn may mean that there is something wrong with the brush or housing. Maybe it could not move freely within the housing? I think this may be most likely cause it it may be a combination of all 4.Is it worth to fix? Hmm depends how much will it be. If this is 100+ - I’d say get newer Kirby for 300 ad enjoy the tech drive (Heritage does not have tech drive so it is much harder to vacuum with than the newer models)

I NOTICED SPARKS INSIDE THE UNIT WHERE THE HANDLE ATTACHES TO THE MOTOR....NOW IT IS NOT WORKING WHAT CAN THIS BE?

Hello,
DO NOT TRY TO TURN THE KIRBY ON ANYMORE BEFORE YOU GET THIS REPAIRED!!! Your Kirby needs carbon brushes and if you don't already need a new armature, the worn out brushes will destroy the armature that you have. Here is a guide that will help you get down to the carbon brushes to change them...

http://reviews.ebay.com/REPLACING-THE-POWER-SWITCH-ON-ANY-KIRBY-G-SERIES-VACUUM_W0QQugidZ10000000003752018

It is a guide to replace the power switch, but will give you the step-by-step to get down to the carbon brushes.

Hope this helps,

Good armature maybe needs new brushes

You can replace the carbon brushes and most repair shops should have them. Also tho, the armature could be causing the problem, if you put in new brushs and it still arcs badly, then the armature is bad.

Kirby G5 - Stopped

The carbon brushes in the motor need to be replaced. Very IMPORTANT....... DO NOT run the Kirby anymore until you get this fixed. If you do, the armature will be in danger of being damaged. (and that part is expensive!) The carbon brushes are reasonably priced, and you can use this online guide to get to them and change them. It's a guide for replacing the power switch, but it will help you change the carbon brushes too. Hope I've helped...
