There are 3 ways to transfer music from iPod to iTunes:

Mthod 1: Using iTunes. Connect your iPod to computer, then open iTunes and click "File" > "Device" > "Transfer Purchases from Your Device Name". By default, the exported music will be saved at C:Users/Administrator/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media. But this method can only used for purchsed music.

Method 2: Using Dropbox. Upload your music on iPod, then download from your computer via same Dropbox ID. Add downloaded music to iTunes.

Method 3: Using iTransfer. Connect your iPod to Computer. Select source music on "Music" section, then right click to transfer to iTunes.

Here are more detailed steps for these three methods: 3 Ways to Transfer Music from iPod to Computer Windows 10

If you want to transfer music from iPod to computer with iTunes directly, you can only rely on the "Transfer Purchases" function of iTunes.

  1. Plug your iPod touch into computer via the USB cable. The iTunes will launch, if not, double click the icon on your desktop to start it.
  2. Click "File" at the upper left corner, and then click "Devices> Transfer Purchases".
  3. iTunes may need your Apple ID to finish the transfer. Type the Apple ID in the dialog.
Then iTunes will transfer all the purchased music to iTunes Library. This method only allows you to transfer purchased music from iTunes. For the music files that are not got from iTunes, you will need third-party iPod transfer software to transfer music from iPod to computer.

Generally, with iTunes:
1.Run Software and Connect iPod to Computer
2.Export iPod music to iTunes library
1) Open the library/playlist that you want to export.
2) Check the song(s) you want to export in the file list.
3) Click the "iPod to iTunes" button to start exporting files.
3.Transfer
But using iTunes to transfer musics between iPod and computer is not so convenient, why not use another way, without iTunes.

Being 58 years old bought a nano ipod for my wife want to put music on it dont understand what to download to be able to use it ?

The first thing that you should do is download itunes from the apple website at www.apple.com/itunes once installed open up itunes and then plug in the supplied usb cable into the ipod and the other end into your computer. From itunes you can then go onto the apple store and buy music from the store or if you have music on CDs you can use itunes to pull the CDs onto your computer and from itunes and clicking on the devices section you can transfer the music onto your ipod. Hope this helps.

Hi, I am trying to move my Ipod songs to my itunes...

One thing you can do is burn all the songs from your old computer's iTunes onto CDs, then re-upload them to your iTunes on your new computer. It sounds ridiculous that there's not a better way, but so far that's the only method I've found that's worked.

Transferring songs from old library to a new one

I don't have an ipod, but do you not just connect it to your pc, open ituned, select the songs from your ipod THROUGH itunes - drag and drop them into your library and they should copy. When finished, eject your old ipod and connect the new one. Drag and drop the songs from itunes into the new iPod.

Again I'm not sure if this is correct, but this is how most things function in itunes. If not, someone correct me.
