When I first got a cat, the vet told me that cats are used to meat in their diet and digest it better than just grains, suggesting feeding both wet and dry.

Dry food is better for keeping teeth clean. I free feed dry and give canned once a day. All my cats are super healthy, even the 18 year old.

You should give dry food and canned food to it. I think that you should not raised him with a single food. It is not good.

You should try preparing a diet for your cat whichresembles the things that cat eat in the wild such as fresh meat and grains. However, most of us don't have the time to do so and there are many canned foodalternatives that contributes your cat nutrition. You can check out this link http://cats.about.com/cs/catfood/a/canned_food.htm and find out more detailed information aboutcanned food substances.

What are little almost microscopic bus that are drawn to water and I think came from a bag of dry cat food

Don't know what they are, but when cat and some dog food get wet, it is gruesome what grows! Mine grew pink small little worms. Try and either make your own dog/cat food or buy the top brands.also write to the manufacturer and if possible, send a picture. Better brands are more expensive for a reason - they are made from quality ingredients and don't grow ugly things when have been sitting. Throw out the dog's leftover moist food after each meal . If you leave food down for free choice eating, leave only dry food down.

Dry food vs. canned food for cats

The two most popular types of cat food are dry and canned food. Choosing which type to buy can be confusing, but I'm here to point you the benefits of each type, as well as the disadvantages. Let's start off with dry cat food. Most cat owners will agree that this is a better choice of the two. Why you ask. Well it's definitely more economical (than canned food), can be stored for a long period of time (unlike canned food), does not leave a mess, and even if it pours on the floor, it is really easy to clean. The main con of dry cat food is that it contains a large amount of carbs and fillers. Carbs are not really necessary for cats because they have a hard time converting it to energy and fillers are low quality ingredients. Regarding canned food, its main benefit is that it contains a lot of protein, which is the main source of energy for cats. Lack of protein and the cat will quickly begin to lose weight and its immune system will be weaker. Another benefit is that contains a large amount of water, keeping the cat dehydrated. The cons of canned cat food are that they are expensive, have to be refrigerated once opened, have a short life time, and can easily leave a mess. Whether you choose dry or canned food for your cat, make sure it is a high quality product with all the important nutrients.

All of a sudden my cat won't touch this food. he is 5 years old, and has been eating it with no problem. He usually bolts it down with no problems, but now the food remains in his dish for days an

If he's been eating this food in the past, is it a new bag? Maybe it's not fresh or this bag tastes a bit off? If the Vet didn't have any suggestions, I'd consider returning the bag to the pet store, explaining the situation, and trying another brand. If it isn't a health thing it's a mental thing, so maybe try wet food for a while and then ease him into a different dry food to see if that breaks the mental block that seems to be occurring?

How often should I clean my cat's bowl?

You should clean your cat bowl daily and put in the dishwasher every few days (if it's on a dry food diet). If your cat eats canned food then put the bowl in the dishwasher daily.

Should I give my cat wet or dry food?

There are no rules that say that one is better than theother but cats are carnivores. Wet meaty food is often preferred over kibble(dry food) however the best kibble is better for your cat than the worst cannedfood.
