Question about KLH DVZ-2500 System

1 Answer

DVD Player is not opening the tray

I am using this system for the last 3 years without any issues. After 1 month, I again reconnected with 3 speakers (Centre/FR and FL) alone and tried to use the Home Theatre. The Tuner for FM and AM are working fine. But in DVD mode, when I tried to open the tray, it is not opening at all both through Remote and Manually as well. I removed all the connections and reconnected with the 3 speakers again and tried the same thing. But the same problem exists. Can anyone suggest me what I need to do now?

There is a belt most likely under the tray that has stretched. replace it with the same size and it should be ok.

Hello! Since I do not know if your vehicle is equipped with the Standard or Premium System I'll give both sets of wiring...You can identify which system you have by looking at the color of the ground wire...

Red=Standard and Black/Green =Premium

Standard...Constant +12=Green/Yellow...
Switched=Yellow/Black...Ground=Red...
Illumination=Blue/Red...

Standard Speaker
FR + White
FR - Green/Orange
FL + Orange/Green
FL - Light Blue/White
RR + Orange/Red
RR - Black/White
RL + Pink/Green
RL - Pink/Blue

Premium...Only power difference is Ground=Black/Green

Premium Speaker

FR+ White/Red
FR- Brown
FL+ Green
FL- White/Orange
RR+ Purple/White
RR- Blue
RL+ Blue/Black
RL- Yellow

My front panel headphone& mic connecting pcb have only 7 slots and the cable is named as 1)LINE OUT FR,2)LINE OUT RR,3)LINE OUT FL,4)LINE OUT RL,5)MIC IN(R),6)GROUND,7)MIC POWER(L) how can it connect...

FR stands for Front Right, FL for Front Left, RR for Rear Right and RL for rear left. These are speakers connections. You need a convertr cable to connect your headphones with your PC. After getting cable, connect it with FR and FL or RR and RL pair. Your headphone will be working. Similarly get the cabl for Mono to Stereo Mic and you can connect your mic too. Connection of Panasonic DVD Burner to San Sui Surround Amp.

cant be done, the dvd wont record in surround. you could try a digital TOS, optical audio path and that may do what you need, usually the digital is an orange single input. TOS is the square one that looks like a little bulb on the end.

Multimedia speakers not playing up to potential

After I posted my problem, I browsed a bit further through the other posts and solutions, until I came across the excellent solution of TrickyTrev34 and gave it a try. However, I did not slice the cable, but did it as follows:
1. Switch off power of the sound system on the subwoofer box. Disconnect the Front Right (FR) speaker box (the one with the volume control) from the subwoofer box.
2. Remove the silver coloured metal oval on which the speaker box stands. Now you'll see a small screw at the bottom of the speaker box. remove it.
3. Carefully remove the silver coloured metal protection plate (with all the little holes) from the front of the FR speaker box by wedging it from the top with a flathead screwdriver or other thin blunt object. Now you'll see the speaker and 4 holes with screws inside. Remove screws and speaker box opens up..
4. Inside you should see six wires (Red, Blue, Yellow, White, Green & Black). Carefully cut the GREEN wire only. Insulate the both ends of the GREEN wire with electrical tape or heatshrink or similar.
5. Put the FR speaker box back together in reversed order.
6. Connect FR speaker back to the subwoofer box. Make sure the volume setting on your PC is very low, because when you switch back on the power of the subwoofer, you should be blasting again.

As TrickyTrev34 already mentioned, the only downside of this procedure is that it will disable the volume control on the FR speaker, but who cares, your sound system works again, and you can still control the volume via the PC playback control panel and/or the multi-media keyboard if you have one.
Thanks for giving the lead trickytrev34.
