The camera was working fine as I was importing images onto my computer. Then the battery died. First, I tried to use my other battery but it did not work ... so I assumed that the second battery was also dead. Then I connected the power cord but accidentally (did not have my glasses) plugged the DC cable into the microphone plug. After I noticed my mistake, I connected the power cord correctly and now the camera does not turn on or charge the battery. When a battery is not attached to the camera (this video model charges battery when it is connected to the camera only) the power light blinks once and then stops. Nothing is being charged. Did I fry something internal in the camera? Or perhaps the charging adapter?
I was using my Optura 50. It indicated a 1/2 battery left, then just stopped working. It has never turned on again and does the same thing you describe (one blink, then nothing).
This incident happens often and damages the camcorder's power board. Replacing power board and some adjustment should resolved the problem. Your cost may run from $175-$225 in US for this model. Whenever you are transfering and connecting to pc, it is recommended to connect AC adapter power for this. Do not rely on a charged battery. Good luck.

My camera stopped working after I had used it for, oh, about 30 seconds. It does the same thing as far as power light blinking once (and it beeps once) then nothing. Battery, no battery, plugged in, not plugged in. POS, I'm afraid. I am in the military and live oversees so it just seems like a much bigger hassle to send this to a repair facility- any owner troubleshooting or repair advice?
I have the same exact issue except for the fact that mine does not blink at all.
I have the exact same issue except that the power light does not blink at all.
I have the same problem now, one blink and beep then no power. Anyone know how to manually remove a tape??
Had the battery in and power cord connected. During transfer to computer, camcorder turned off.
Now, when plugging the adapter in or using the battery, will get a quick blink and a beep, when camera is set to camera or vcr mode on power switch.
Adapter was plugged into correct power port.
Battery is fully charged and I have also tried the mains adapter without success. I was due to record a wedding later to-day
Anyone ever figure out how to get this fixed?
