I just recently bought an Acer Aspire One and the fan began buzzing loudly and a few weeks later the screen completely shut off. Now when I start up my laptop I cant see anything and the fan buzzes. What can be wrong?

check its not the fan making the noise,
because if its your fan it may not start up.
and make sure its not the power unit buzzing.

I would think the fan has stopped working so the laptop will not boot in fear of overheating. Try the fan first, it's cheaper.

The way you describe the problem, with the fan getting noticeably louder then shutting the computer down entirely, sounds like an overheating issue; the fan spins up to top speed to try and cool the system down, fails to do so, and the machine shuts itself down as a safety precaution.

Propping it up might have provided it with a bit more airflow, which may be why you experience the shut downs a little less frequently. I would invest in a can of compressed air, which can be found at any office supply store, and blow out the exhaust vents on your laptop. If you've never cleaned your machine before, dust and other debris that accumulates in the vents and around the fan have probably built up enough to restrict air flow.

sounds like the cpu fan and that would also explane the green then red lights also open the tower access panel but first unplug the unit,wait 30 secounds or so plug the tower back in then look at the fan sitting on the motherboard or main processer see if it turns on and make sure it keeps running they tend to start then if there is a problem they eigther don't turn on at all or turn off a few secounds later Im thinking later would explane the lights

I'm afraid this sounds like a fairly major hardware failure to me (possibly motherboard) your best bet is to contact Acer and see if there is any help they can provide

you need to replace the memory..or try to make clean using a Paper Eraser for make a clean the memory..clean the all pin connectors..good luck

Aspire One uses Atom process and its very small. it get hot easly and there is a fan on it also fan is so small. you need to change to fan. take the service.
