Fill with water - Stopped in the wash cycle - Blew Breaker

I have a Kenmore Series 70 Washer. It blew the breaker during the wash cycle. It is filled with water. Reset the breaker and now the motor hums and dims the lights when I try to activate but no longer blows the breaker. Nothing will work on the washer. Motor just hums and nothing moves in all modes

Have three kids and three dogs and loads of laundry. Would like to know if you think it's fixable.

I can take it apart to see if anything is binding the motor.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks !

Kenmore 700 series top loader washer. I put it on the normal cycle, the washer fills and agitates for a few minutes (maybe 5) then drains only to fill back up and finish the cycle. Is this normal?

no
some cycle the agitator during the fill cycle to get better distribution of the clothes as it is filling and then shut of the water and proceed to the wash cycle
have a technician check out the program board

Water leaking during wash cycle, not hoses.

A few things to look for:

1.) Is fill height correct?-- (Unit does not over fill-- right?)
This would be due to the level sensor-- usually a diaphragm switch-- 3 or 4 inches in diameter.

2.) Or is it leaking during the filling process?
Often there is a flow restricting/ Vacuum Breaker device at the top of the Washer Basket, that starts backing water up, and it flows out the opening on this vacuum breaker.
This device can be replaced easily, if your machine top flips up out of the way.

3.) With the top up, you might look at ALL the hoses deep inside the machine, to be sure no dripping is occuring from them-- Then you can see the Vacuum breaker right there on top, under the top cover.

Kenmore series 70 fills with water on rise cycle but stops halfway throught then starts agian and finishes is this normal

If this has always stopped during the rinse cycle, most likely it's the "cool down" part of the rinse cycle.

See the following Sears site for manuals. Enter your model number and you should be able to download the proper manual for your washer.

KENMORE ELITE TOP LOAD

Washer stops, won't fill, rinse or agitate

• Check the following:
Is the power cord plugged into a grounded 3 prong outlet?
Is the indicator on the Cycle Control knob properly lined up
with a cycle? Turn the Cycle Control knob to the right slightly
and pull to start.
Are the water inlet valve screens clogged?
Are both the hot and cold water faucets turned on?
Is the water inlet hose kinked?

• Does the water level seem too low, or does the washer
appear to not fill completely? The top of the agitator is
much higher than the highest water level. This is normal and
necessary for clothes to move freely.
• Has a fuse blown or is the circuit breaker open? If problem
continues, call an electrician.
• Are you using an extension cord? Do not use an extension
cord.
• Is the washer in a normal pause in the cycle? The washer
pauses for about 2 minutes during certain cycles. Allow the
cycle to continue. Some cycles feature periods of agitation
and soak.
• Is the washer overloaded? Wash smaller loads.
• Is the lid open? The lid must be closed during operation.
Washer will not agitate or spin with the lid open.

Washer stopped working

To help you with this problem I need you to do something. Place the machine in spin cycle and see if it will pump the water out. Also, lift the lid and look at the back. There should be a model/serial number plate. This information would help.

I do not believe the motor is at fault. I suspect a bad motor coupler. If the machine willpump the water out then I am Sure.
