You must have a Lamp for to help the screws. Unless the machine had not screws, must be adjusted to a pressure. You must use the screwdriver for to help to open the hood.

SOURCE: I am having trouble removing

If you lift your treadmill deck up, you will find 2 screws underneath, on the side, towards the front. remove them and that should do the trick.

Motor runs but nothing turns on

If the console takes batteries, replace them. If this does not work or your console does not require batteries, check the reed switch or optic sensor. Reed Switch: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The reed switch is mounted on the frame next to the front roller pulley. There is a magnet glued into the front roller pulley. When adjusting the reed switch, make sure it is pointing directly at the magnet. Move the tip of the reed switch within 1/8" of the magnet. Also, check to see that the wire is not damaged, and is connected to the console.
Optic Sensor: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The optic disk and sensor are located either at the end of the motor or the right hand side of the front roller. The optic disk spins between two sensors on the optic switch. The disk must spin freely without touching either sensor. The sensors can be moved by loosening the adjustment bolt holding the switch to its bracket. The switch can then be slid. Center the disk. 11_13_2011_11_53_47_am.gif11_13_2011_11_54_16_am.gif

How to remove the motor hood

There are 4 screws across the front. The two additional hidden screws are underneath. Lift the walkboard frame up and they will be through the frame where the end of the hood cover is. One on each side.

My Epic 425 is getting louder and louder, a whirring noise, but can't seem to find maintenance help

Hi,

It sounds like you have a drive motoer failing. The only other place that can be load or making noise is the front and rear roller. The rollers bearings when failing make a "popping" or "clicking" noise, and increases as you speen up. The motor "growls", and the faster you go the noise is..... well loud. The way to confirm this is to remove the motor hood, then start the treadmill on power/speed level 3. Be very carefull, and use a broom stick (wooden) to put on the drive motor while it is running. You should be able to "feel" what you are hearing. You should then raise the speed, and you will then feel the increase as well.

The replacement motor is around $200.00.

Hope this helps

What I have done, is remove the case to access the incline assembly. tyically a black tube looking thing with a small motor attached to its side. at the end of this motor, you may see the shaft to the motor, with a slot cut in it,.like a flat head screw driver. use a cordless drill with a standard bit attached to rotate the motor manually.
