Plasma TV's has a really rich, warm colors and deep blacks. It provides you with comfortable viewing angles that allow you to seat almost everywhere around the TV.

LCD TV'S are preferred in sizes less than 42 inches, and for users with lots of daylight viewing. If you're looking for ways to save energy. LCD TVs often consume less power than plasma models of the same size.

47" plasma 1080p ... screen went black , sound

Plasma TV's have a shelf life. By that I mean the screen is only good for so many hours depending on the model. Most likely, you have burnt out the screen and the set will need to be replaced. The good news is, plasma TV's used to be better than LCD but that is no longer the case. You can get a very high quality LCD TV for a very low price now. Also they use a fraction of the power and don't generate all of the heat of a plasma.I'm sure this is not what you wanted to hear but the reality is that ALL plasma TV's do this eventually, and it is something that most salesmen back in the day didn't bother to tell customers. If you have an extended warranty, you may be able to get it replaced.

Is my tv worth reparing with both front and rear screen problems and how could i or is there anywhere i might buy reasonable second hand parts

Yeah dont buy LCD over hyped ****!! I buy only plasma's better blacks & better picture! Try the Panasonic THX plasma & read the reviews on it! I own 2 plasma one new & one 5 yrs old! Also own one Sony LCD...LOL..it's in the kids room! Even Sony's best XBR $5000 plus 50" tv does not compare to a Panny THX!
