Generally water leaks on top mount freezer types when the defrost tube is plugged. The automatic defrost system works to keep humidity from blocking air flow across the evaporator(behind the back freezer panel) If it can not drain you will see it as water dripping from the top of the fridge section and water under the crispers.......Clean the drain tube under the evaporator of ice(poke a hole in evaporator and you are buying a fridge)........hope this helps

SOURCE: frigidaire refrigerator leaking water inside refrigerator

There is a plastic panel inside the frigidaire looking at the underside of the freezer inside the refrigerator compartment which holds the thermostate dial and the light fixture. remove the four 1/4 in hex head screws holding the assembly. pull the panel toward the front. you will expose the drain hose connection you can let it dangle from the plug wires or remove the panel completely, I worked with mine in place. look at the back funnel shape drain. just in front of that see a rectangular styroform collar which should be snug fit to match the underside. clean and dry all. there is a divider between the two funnel compartments, mine was separated between the plastic and the styroform. I used kitchen and bath tub caulking to seal the gap. and a little around the rectangle shape that fits to the underside. plug the wire back in if disconnected. reassemble the panel. that may fix it. good luck.

SOURCE: water leaking in refrigerator on shelves, drawers, and under draw

common issue.....sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

SOURCE: Amana 18 Top freezer Refrigerator-leaking water in refrigerator

the middle insulation hasbecome water logged, forma faulty defrost tube, so, every time trhe unit defrost, 2 maybe 3 times a day it will spill water inti the vents, andin to the refrig, the only correct way to fix is to have the enitre center drain block replaced, part not that expensive but labor to install may be, ohter then nussincence, not really affecting machines workings

SOURCE: water leaking inside the refrigerator

Hi

Most times this is a plugged defrost drain system. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted or plugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in the freezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled through a small hose into a cup in the top middle of the fresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, the water is directed out the back wall to a drain hose that runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created under the fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) can be removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system. Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flush it out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to help clean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of the freezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drain hole. You can clean this out in the same manner as previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of the fresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system. For some reason Whirlpool has found a need to "hide" the drain hose inside the walls now ( Whirlpool makes many of the Kenmore branded refrigerators ) on there top freezer refrigerators. This makes accessing the drain hose to flush it out more difficult, no cup inside the fresh food section, no hose down the outside back wall and the only access is inside the freezer section behind the back false wall and under the evaporator coils.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa if found useful and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

I hear a lot of complaints from people that see water leaking into their refrigerator from seemingly nowhere. Water appears in different places and even inside or under a refrigerators that does not have a water or a ice dispenser! Frost free refrigerators defrost the ice that collects on the evaporator coil on the average of about every 8 hours so the water that accumulates during defrost has to go somewhere right?

It is leaking water and the bottom of the refrigerator has water

Is water leaking OUTSIDE your refrigerator or INSIDE at the bottom of your refrigerator ? If it is inside your refrigerator the most common reason is a clogged defrost drain tube - The water collects from a defrost cycle and drains through a hole on the ceiling of your refrigerator into a cup that drains it through the tube down to the defrost pan at the bottom of your refrigerator on the back and evaporated by the compressor heat. Sometimes this tube gets clogged and water does not drain from the cup and overflows inside your refrigerator against the backwall.

Icetube leaking water inside freezer and outside back of freezer

Your refrigerator needs a new water valve and possibly some new water tubing. You can find the correct part by going to sears.com and entering the refrigerator's model number in the parts search field. When you have the valve, shut off the water to the refrigerator. If you're not sure how to do that, just shut off water to the entire house. Be sure to run the kitchen sink after you shut the water off to relieve any presure and double check that the water is completely shut off.

Be sure to unplug the refrigerator before you start this project...water and electricity aren't friends! Using a 1/4" nut driver or socket, remove the cardboard or metal cover off the back of the refrigerator. Follow the water line to the water valve, unscrew the nut going to the valve, and remove the water line. There are 2 screws holding the water valve to the refrigerator cabinet; remove the screws and gently pull the valve out. Unplug the electrical connectors and remove the water lines. Take the new valve, connect the water lines and electrical plugs, screw the valve back into place, attach the water line and turn the water back to to test for leaks.

Since the valve has been leaking inside your freezer it would be a great idea to clean out your freezer and let the water tube and lines thaw. Find a place for your frozen food, unplug the unit and let it sit overnight with the doors open. Don't forget to remove the ice bin, as these make quite the mess when the ice melts. Once it's thawed, plug it back in, make sure the water is on and not leaking and enjoy!
